Semin, Fedorov, Johnson, and Morrisonn are all hurt and now Green is out. Green hurt his shoulder on that monster hit by Pronger. Green doesn't think it's going to keep him out that long, but one has to wonder if it will linger the rest of the season.
Morrisonn might be forced to play tonight if Green or Fedorov (sprained ankle) can't go.
And Semin (back/shoulder) seems to be hurting more than originally thought since he isn't even skating. We can't have him hurt for an extended period of time.
Good thing Ovie and Backstrom are on fire. Also Kozlov looked really good last night.
Theodore is average at best. He's out of position a lot and he make the easy saves look difficult. Johnson should start tonight so hopefully he makes a statement.

We really need Johnson back IMO. I hope he starts right where he left off.
I really wanted Semin and Malkin to compete this year, almost like OV and Crosby did last year. I read too that Semin did not skate yesterday either.
Have you read anywhere when Semin is expected to return tywright?

I haven't heard a thing about when Semin will return. Usually when you're not skating, then you're at a minimum a week away.

Semin will still be out another week or two. Not skating yet, and he tends to be very fragile. A twisted ankle kept him out 6 weeks last year.
Green could be out for the season. It didn't look good, and when they respond by putting him in a sling and saying, oh we'll see what it looks like tomorrow (aka we'll have an MRI in the morning) it's never a good thing. I'm hoping he's not of course, but i'd expect a couple weeks.
Crossing my fingers for Johnson tonight.

I don't know if you can use the term fragile with Semin because of a twisted ankle injury. There are all sorts of ankle injuries out there and seeing as how the ankle is an important appendage for skating you can't rush back from something like that.
I would say the big problem is the injury reports. Due to that rule change every team has become so shady when listing their injured players that it's hard to determine where they are hurt and how serious it is. It seems like there are two types of injuries being reported with this rule, upper body injury and lower body injury. Thats' it.
I agree with Bosibus that we need Johnson back because Theodore is still looking shaky.

No, I agree with you there, the ankle is really important, but Semin has been known since his rookie year to be a little fragile, seems like everytime he gets hit he's out for a month. Even the year he scored 38 goals he was dinged up and then last year he was worthless when he attempted to play through it for the first 2/3 of the year. Let's just hope he gets back as soon as possible.
I've been all for impeaching Theodore since the second game of the season. I'm going to Wednesday's game and probably another one or two coming up, so I'm crossing my fingers that Johnson gets some starts.

Can't afford it until we move some salary. Totally different kinds of players too even if they figured out how to get him here, he is a stay at home guy. More than likely, look for Fedorov to move to D when he gets back to the lineup, Laich to shift to C, and either Fehr to get some playing time, or Laing to get called up with Gordon getting a more involved role.

With all the injuries, the Caps have called up Alzner, Bourque, Sami Lepisto and Graham Mink from Hershey.
Chris Clark (stress fracture in arm) and Schultz (broken finger) were put on the Long term IR. By putting Schultz and and Clark on LTIR, the Caps, who are up against the salary cap, can replace Schultz's $763,889 cap hit and Clark's $2.63 million hit. Apparently Clark has been hurting for a while so that explains his lack of production.
Bruce on Alzner: "We want him to move the puck, not get beat and make the right plays. We don't want him going end-to-end. We want Karl to be Karl."
Ovechkin-Backstrom-Kozlov
Fleischmann-Nylander-Fehr
Bourque-Laich-Bradley
Brashear-Steckel-Mink
The 'D' pairings:
Sloan-Poti
Alzner-Jurcina
Lepisto-Morrisonn
Theodore will start against Atlanta tonight.
Mike Green will probably play this weekend.
Semin hasn't skated at all recently and may need the rest or it may be an indication that he's not recovering well from the back strain.

Nice reporting buddy. I touched on it a bit in the other thread. Alzner will be here to stay as long as he doesn't completely turn into someone he isn't. I'd like to see CB stick around too, with Flash and Fehr getting more pronounced offensive roles.
I'd also like to see Kozlov traded and Fehr take his spot, (saving money in the deal).

Thanks for the updates TY.
I am real excited to see Alzner up here, he is going to be good.
When did Erskine get hurt? I knew Schultz was out, but I didnt know about Erskine. Lepisto is probably only going to be here until Green comes back.
Clark was really hurting us, im glad he didnt keep trying to play through his injury.
Glad to see Borque back up, he is a pretty good player.
Whats going on with Federov? Any word on him? He said during an interview in Minnesota he might be back for the game tonight, so I assume he will be back very soon.
Im not really worried about the recent West Coast swing. Sure we struggled, but poor scheduling and no Green/Semin/Federov, it was going to be hard to win those games.

It's more summarizing than reporting ;)
I think Alzner does stay because he'll be making less mistakes than any other Dman. I think we're also going to see Lepisto make a good impression. Bourque will probably be bounced up and down all year. Mink was only called up to replace Clark.

Federov has the dreaded ankle injury that can linger all year. He already reinjured it during the SJ game.

Yeah, ankle injuries are the worst for hockey players, so much pressure is put on them in order to take and switch edges.
I think overall Alzner is an improvement over Jurcina, and maybe even over Schultz too. I think the interesting call is going to be once everyone is healthy, do you keep Sloan or Lepisto over one or two of those guys. I just want to hear people stop trying to make excuses for Theodore on why he's allowing so many goals. How about we go with...he hasn't been good in 5 years, why would he start now?
I'm going to the game, I'll let you know how they look.

Ok, so Alzner looked pretty good, a little nervous as one would expect, but no glaring mistakes, good crisp passes, and played some good stand up D. Lepisto had a decent night too, mostly from an offensive perspective, couple shots, good passing, lots of ice time for a while there. CB was well...himself. Pesky, couple shots, made his ice time count. Mink didn't play much, 4th line work.
Fehr looked really good early on, had a lot of energy and was mixing it up a lot. Stuck up for Bourque in the first when he got leveled and about took on the whole Thrasher's bench, it was great. Flash played amazing all night, good passing, the tic-tac-toe on the Fehr goal was something you'd have to see to believe, the goalie had NO shot.
Good night overall....EXCEPT...JT looked horrible again. Bad save %, flopping around when he didn't know where the puck was (98% of the time) and the second goal was a gift because he plopped down on his stomach and didn't even try to get up until he figured out where the puck was. Bring on Johnson and ride him to the end...this has to end somewhere.
