Excuse me if this thread has already been made.

MP, see, your kittens are conventionally cute. Yeah, they cuddle and spoon and would make a little girl cry, but my cat has hair coming out of her ears, an odd shaped head, a condescending expression and kind of looks like a cross between yoda and an ewok. And our pup is lumpy. Ugly is the new cute.

You can see a picture of me and Ike (along with the dog show judge and the handler) in my picture album (http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/album.php?albumid=129). Ike won best of breed, Belgian Sheepdog, in three shows but then developed prostatitis. He was neutered and so couldn't complete his championship.

He went on to be a member of the Reading to Dogs program for kids who didn't know how cool reading is. You can see me and Ike with one of the kids, who is reading a story to Ike.

Bad news in our world: Kramer got attacked on this mornings walk. Some dumbass who couldn't control his two labs came flying across the street at El and the girls, and one of them clamped down on Kramer's midsection. The skin wasn't broken, but she was pretty shaken up. El says she was shrieking like a banshee when it happened. She's currently at the vets for x-rays.
Satchel did not get bitten or clamped down on, and defended her sister as best she could.
I'm pretty sure Kramer's going to be fine, but we'll be keeping a close eye on her once she gets back from the vets.

What Kind of dog is this?

He is a Boxer / Pit Bull.

But mostly pig. He is constantly snorting.

If we can find him (and we're going to enlist all the other dog owners we know in the neighborhood) we fully intend to do just that. Today cost us just over $300...which is nothing compared to the possibility of losing Kramer.
She's back from the vets, floating on a cloud of painkillers and sleeping on the TV room couch. I have to keep checking to see that she's still breathing, because she's very still right now.

The K-dog is starting to stir a bit, so the drugs must be wearing off...
Since I wasn't there, I can't discount the possibility that the dog that clamped down on Kramer was trying to play, and not to hurt her. (Kramer's white and fluffy...hell, maybe the other dog thought she was a rabbit or something.)
It's just ironic that this should happen to Kramer. I've never seen a dog less interested in other dogs than she is. Apart from Satchel and her friends Coby and Mitsi she just doesn't care at all. She'll offer up the occasional perfunctory butt sniff, but otherwise, she simply can't be bothered.
Satchel, OTOH, always wants to meet other dogs. She may not want to hang with them, but she always wants to meet them.

Kramer is around 80% now, moving better (though not running yet), starting to eat again, and showing interest in her toys again. Looks like she'll be just fine.
The running (morbid) joke between El and I is that we'll have one major vet event with Kramer every year for her entire life, and that she'll live to 20, while Satchel will never make a non-scheduled vet visit ever, and drop dead at nine...we hope like hell that we're wrong, and that they both live long, happy lives.

Bump for Kramer update:
She's near 100% again. We had people over last night, and she was in full-on "play with me" mode.
She does have this livid purple bruise along most of her right side, though, and we still have to be careful about how we pick her up. If I can get a photo, I will.

Bump.
I have to say, dogs heal freakishly fast! The giant purple/red bruise on Kramer is now almost completely gone, and she is just about 100% again.
Hooray for the manic munchkin!

Nice Duffman! A Blue Merle Aussie! I've wanted to get an Aussie for a while now. Luckily I did my research on them before I bought one though. And I think I'll have to get myself in better shape if I want to keep up with an Australian Shepard.

It is interesting that it is called an Australian Shepard but it is actually an American breed.

Nope nothing wrong with it that's just how that eye happens to look! When we picked him out there was one there that had green eyes.

Thanks he's definitely got a nice looking coat.:)

Very nice. Just very friendly and playful. Likes walks and fetch and all that fun stuff. Aussies are supposed to be pretty smart as well. We've only had him for 8 days now, but the house breaking (were crate training) is going well.

Yea I didn't know that at first as well, until we were watching a dog show one time and they were commenting that they were called that because when Australians immigrated to the west coast of the U.S. they liked using these dogs and that's how they got their name. His coat is great, there were a few red merle's there as well as a black-tri. It's amazing the variety of coat colors they have.
