I bought it on Nov 30 2007!
It is on its way to Best Buy right now:(
Even though I did NOT buy the warranty Today is the last day it under the Microsft one.
They said they will ship it for me
If anyone has had this happen how long did it take to get it back?:confused:

You may have to send it back to Microsoft. I believe it is a 2 week turn around time.

This has happened to me twice you. If you don't want to call Microsoft leave it to best buy. Microsoft sends you as box to put it in. In all I'd say it will take about a month. Maybe a week or two less.

Don't worry about this.

Anything relating to the 'Red Ring of Death' is covered under an extended 3 year warranty. Like most have already said, they'll send you a box to ship it in and you should have it back it 2 - 4 weeks.

Not to hijack, but I've seen my 360 flash red rings a couple of times. I've always just turned it off, unplugged it, and turned it back on. Is mine possessed or am I just lucky?

Mine did that also until eventually it took longer and longer to boot up.

I sent it in before I left on a week-long vacation, and it was back to me about a week after I got back.

It probably will not make it back by X-Mas but it will be close.

Hopefully your kids will appreciate the gift and have the patience to wait for the system to come back.

I loved my Xbox 360, but after sending the 4th one back, I sold the replacement and moved on to the PS3. Its a shame, I really like the games, but wasnt a real fan of online, I hate the culture, and I also hate getting dominated by 12 year olds. :angryfire:

There are a few different kinds of "red rings of death". Do you know which lights are lighting up? There are 4 total, upper and lower, left and right. Different combos mean different problems.

Even if it's the worst, MS is usually pretty quick, I sent one out and had it back in 10 days a couple months ago.

Exactly, the red ring flashes to show there is some kind of problem. The different lights each spell a code that you can then get from your machine. This was the biggest problem ever created and has backfired on MS.

I am on my third and fourth XBOX360's and have seen different codes which sometimes just meaning cleaning the video cable and reinserting it.

The problem is it's the best system out there hands down. The online and achievement system just make it plain addicting, and getting crushed by 12 year olds has become a daily ritual for me.

It seem the London kids have the quickest reflexes....

Nah, the "blokes" don't have fast reflexes, there is that slight lag when you deal with overseas people that doesn't seem like it's lagging but they are a split second ahead of you no matter what you do. Totally unfair advantage, but it's ridiculous when it comes to gears 2 where everyone wants to two-piece and that's it.

Between the red rings of death and the new revelation that Microsoft knew the 360 would ruin games and put permanent gouges in disks and didn't issue a warning not to move the machine when the drive was active, would you buy the next generation of Xbox in 2-3 years knowing similar problems would occur again?

I myself (knock on wood) have not had any problems with my XBOX, although, I bought at Elite. I am a Sony guy to heart, TVs, stereo, computers, and etc. The only reason why I purchased the XBOX instead of PS3 is because all my friends had XBOXs and we could play online. If all my friends had PS3s, I would have had a PS3.

So for me, if PS4 has a next generation High Def output or hard media player, it is something to think about. I think it is one of those things that we would have to see who is offering what at the time as well because I cannot imagine XBOX having similar problems again, that was a catastrophic hit to their budget I am sure.

I would probably go PS4 though just to shake it up.

Did you call to check on it? Either try going to xbox.com to see if you can check on the status online, or call 1-800-4MY-XBOX and see if they can tell you what the deal is and if it will be here for xmas.

It's supposed to only be the very FIRST generation of 360's that have the 3 year warranty, usually if you put up enough of a fight they will do it though. Just watch that they don't do some temporary crappy fix and it craps out again in 3 weeks. I've been very lucky with mine, very first Gen and still going strong. I know there were a lot of problems with elites though, my friend has gone through 4 in a year.

It is totally not cool, drives me CRAZY playing gears. The shotty doesn't work the same as it did in the first one, but when they have that full second or two lag and they can melee you, which knocks you into a stun glitch (you keep getting stunned everytime you press the B button, so it can happen like 5 times in a row) and then you get killed without even getting to respond.

Is it as bad in COD: WaW? I just bought it cause it was on sale at BB this morning for 35 and I had a 10 off coupon. So I figured 25 was a decent price, I heard the coop campaign was pretty fun. It was either that or NHL 09, and that will be 20 bucks before you know it ;)

I was pleasantly surprised with Cod WaW. It's a fun game.

I personally have a major lag problem but I have interference from a new tower near my house. Most of my friends say lag is not an issue and when I go to their houses to play I have no problem.

I beat a guy 30 kills to 4 on the lan and on my internet I couldn't even get a kill on the same guy. It's just awful where I am and I even went out and got a 20/20 line from Fios. It's not their fault and the FCC is looking into it.
