1. Reputation filter
I give out rep, both + and - pretty liberally depending on whether I think someone is making good or bad points. I must have given one particular poster too much rep - all of which happened to be negative. That doesn't mean I'm trolling on him or anything, it's just how that worked out because he's an active poster.
Well, now the poster made some good posts that I wanted to + rep. However, the filter that said I needed to spread it around came up before I got to choose the type of rep.
Anyway, my suggestion is that you guys might want to try to move the filter from the first click on rep to the submit click. That would still prevent any users from too dramatically affecting another user's rep, so it would still serve its purpose.
#2 - Advanced Search Default
My other suggestion would be to change the default advance search selection from returning threads to returning posts. It's the radio button option in the bottom left of the advanced search window.
I frequently search on posts from users - usually Belkast. I know how to do it efficiently at this point, but others will be disappointed when the search returns all threads where the user's name is returned, rather than the posts initiated by the user.
Thanks for the great site.

Wait, so you neg rep people if YOU think their posts makes bad points? I have only neg repped MAYBE twice in 4 years, and it was for being ignorant arses, not because I disagreed with their point of view. Oh well, to each their own.
Please don't neg rep me! :D

I give people negative rep when they give me negative rep!!!
Oriole way, Crazysilver03, and Dr.Lev you have gotten negative rep for giving me negative rep! :mwahaha:
Though when I am allowed to, I will give Dr.Lev some positive rep and I hope I will get some in return.

What you guys are describing is abuse of the rep system.
From the Hangout Feedback and Help forum, "Thread Ratings and Reputation (http://forum.orioleshangout.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16381)" thread...
Reputation:
Give people credit for thought out and well-written replies or ideas by giving them good points towards their reputation. At the same time, if someone is a trouble maker, continually doesn't add anything towards the conversation, breaks board rules, or acts immaturely, certainly deserves negative credit. Also, take the time to give a quick comment as to why you gave or took away the rep points. The more posts you have and the better reputation you recieve, the more rep points you take or give. NOTE: Do not give a guy neg rep points just because you disagree with his point of view.
Absolutely not intended to be used simply because you disagree with someone or don't feel like they made a good point. The whole tit-for-tat thing is pretty ridiculous, too. If you're partaking in either practice, stop or you'll lose your posting privileges.

FWIW, I don't neg rep for bad posts, I just didn't elaborate in that portion of the post because it wasn't the pertinent part. I only neg rep people that I think are being arses.
