Cindy....from 1995-2001 I wrote Christian music reviews for Kaleidoscope Magazine, a former publication of the United Methodist Church. I remember when the record company sent me a pre-release copy of Switchfoot's first CD, The Legend of Chin. I was, quite honestly, blown away. It was such a totally unique sound in Christian music. I wrote a very positive review for the magazine, which was then picked up and republished in other publications. I received thank you notes from both the record company, and the band. Since then, I have loosely followed the group, and think their sound continues to evolve and is still as fresh as ever.

Somewhere buried in a box among hundreds of other CD's, I'm sure I have that original Switchfoot CD. I just might see if I can find it.

I was a huge Switchfoot fan growing up but I just gotta say they really aren't that good...Just standard mainstream rock now. I still love their older stuff and the odd song on their recent albums but its just not the same.

However, have you heard the lead singer, Jon Foreman's solo work? Its absolutely amazing. I would say he was my favourite artist. Just amazing songwriting to completely stripped down music. Guitar, cello, double bass, harmonica. Really good stuff and really hits the potential that he occasionally shows in Switchfoot.

Have you heard of Fiction Family? He is about to release an album with Sean Watkins from Nickel Creek

I got the Chin album when it first came out and I wasn't really impressed...not sure why, but I just couldn't get into it. But I loved New Way to Be Human and have been a big fan of this band ever since.
