..as a Miami Hurricane fan, I mean I hate the Gators. But lets be real. Tim Tebow willed his team to win this game. This kid may never be an NFL quarterback,(and I wouldnt count him out either)but Ill tell you this..he is one of the greatest competitors Ive ever seen in college football. Talk about"boys, climb on my back..were gonna win this game"...I mean it was Tebow. When his teammates started dropping like flies..Tebow took over. I hate the Gators. But I admire Tebow and what they did tonight.

Is Tebow that guy in sports you just like to hate:cussing:. Regardless of the talent, or the drive,,,there is something in me that just does not like him.

But he did play a good game:o.

Lucky for Bradford, the Heisman voting is long since over.

Not seeing the Yankee analogy whatsoever.

Oh man, there's a mammoth sized elephant in this room...

But to address the point rather than the post... the entire BCS system draws more ire from me than the Gators alone. There are simply too many other teams who get screwed over to not say that the usual suspects that always get dibs on the title game are collectively the Yankees of college football.

Urban Meyer is kindve the George Steinbrenner of college football. They keep recruiting these big, fast kids from poor rural areas and make them stars. But I will tell you this, they do it better than anyone else. The Yankee thing is just what Ive heard. They say and do unscrupulous things in recruiting to get their players to come to Gainsville. Meyer(it is reported) always badmouths other programs. All of that said. The Gators are # 1 and they deserve it.

I would Imagine (Roy, correct me if I am Wrong) but it would have to do with

1. Allways seeming to be able yo get the best players in the country season after season, replacing them at will.

2.Winning. At least compared to the Yankees of the late 90's, the Gators seem to be the team that is winning it (or coming close) to wining it each year.

Roy beat me to it.

Steinbrenner and the Yankees are notorious for grossly outspending all but the Red Sox, who they merely handily outspend.

If Meyer and the Gators have the most talent in the country, it's not because of money.

Yeah, but statistically speaking it's hard for any football team to be the Yankees of football... there too few games for flukes to not have a regular influence on who wins out.

What about what's going on with your Hurricanes right now?

Robert Marve is facing bloodthirsty bitterness from Shannon in his desire to transfer. Only a man cut from the same cloth as George Steinbrenner could stomach the act of stymieing a kid's future for such an overall insignificant setback to Hurricanes football.

Well, to be fair, you have to consider reputation to be college football programs' version of money.

You get good players because you've had good players.

Why Not?

I have not posted on here in ages because I never see a need to because there are more than enough smart ideas being bounced around here. I check this sight about 5 times a day just to see what is going on. I come from the school of thought if you do not have something better to add to the discussion shut up and listen. I love to read what everyone has to say. I love this sight even if I do not write often. So thank you for saying something that finally got me willing to write something.

Gators like that Yankees?????? Now college football is a messed up system that is similar to baseball in that only a few schools have a chance to win the title every year. Utah going undefeated and not even getting close to a title shot is the epitome of this. However to say the Gators are like the Yankees is a gross overstatement. Florida gets its players the same way any of the other major programs do. The difference is that the state of Florida aside from being know for oranges and palm trees really does grow football players on trees. It would only make sense that the best football program in Florida will get the best players. Back in the late 80's early 90's people felt that way about Florida State and Miami now it is Florida's turn. At some point State and Miami will have their turn again. Lets not forget that Florida plays in the SEC which is load with teams that have just as much talent year in and year out. Heck on any given year Alabama, Georiga and LSU all have just as good of a chance of winning the SEC title. I know this is an Oriole sight so I want keep this up much more but I have not written here in what feels like a year so bare with me.

By the way I live in Florida though I am not a Gator fan. I live more years of my life in Georgia but I am not that big of a fan of them either. I am just not that big of a college football fan. Between the Orioles and the Miami Dolphins (I know weird grew up idolizing Dan the Man) I do not have time to be a college football fan however how can anybody not like Tim Teebow? I think he will get eaten alive in the pros but wow what a kid. Last thing I want to say is CONGRATS TO THE RAVENS as a Dolphin fan I have been in a state of shock and awe for since Sunday but now the pain is starting to wear off and I have to say I hope the Ravens go all the way. I root for the Ravens every game except when they play the fins. Best Def. I have seen since the last time the Ravens won the Superbowl.

You people don't live down here. They are Yankee like in the fact that they have some pretty awful and arrogant fans. They legitimately think they are better than you.

I have to move now. And I'm not kidding.

McNulty, I'm sorry. I blame myself. I shouldn't have gone as a Gator fan for Halloween. This is total Karmic payback. I think I'm going to be ill.

If I had to rank the Yankees of College Football, in terms of teams I REALLY want to see lose on a regular basis, they would be:

-Miami (Sorry Roy)
-Oklahoma
-Ohio State

It's fun seeing Florida win (for now), but after a while, it will get old... just like with the above teams. I'm glad Miami's not been in the spot light for a few years.

Hate all you want on Miami, everyone else does it, but a comparison to the Yankees, aside from winning all the time, isn't the best as Miami is a medium sized private school with a fraction of the budget that OSU* and OU and UF and FSU and pretty much every other major football power.

Eh...I'm at fault too man. I single handedly had the entire Jacksonville stadium chanting "Its great to be a gator hater" when they choked against Ole Miss.

That was a fun day. Today at work was....well, I'm going to drown my sorrows with my good friend John Daniels.

Oh, sweet naive The Rick.

I can lay out all the reasons they suck as human beings. And believe me, the list is long (ask Crimson Tribe if you don't believe me). But I'll put it to you this way:

I hate them more than Duke. The version of me from 2002 would punch the 2009 version in the throat, stand on my testicles and call me a dirty liar and traitor for such blasphemous words. I hate them more than the Yankees. More than the Sox. More than the Steelers.

I moved down here with no bias towards any Florida teams. None. It took less than a year to come to the conclusion that these are some awful human beings. For the most part, of course.

So please, don't say such things. Do it for your interwebz pal.

Even though they haven't been as successful lately (come to think of it, neither have the Yankees themselves), the Cryin' Irish of Notre Dame always have been and will be the New York Yankees of college football.
