Hey guys,
We're just finishing up our ad for our Hangout nights this year and I wanted to get some fresh testimonials from people who went to our events last year. We'll select the best ones and put them on the ad. Thanks.

Here's the ad from last year (http://www.orioleshangout.com/article.asp?ID=1330).

Basically, Hangout Nights make going to games more fun. What could be better than meeting new people, then spending a ball game with them cheering on your favorite baseball team? Plus, you know you'll go to a game surrounded by fellow fans for once.

You can't find more passionate fans where you can have a meaningful conversation about the game of baseball with than Hangouters, and you won't find any fans or who cheer their team to victory louder than a Hangout member. As part of the Hangout staff, it was great last year to meet the OH fan base and talk baseball, whether it be the Orioles or talking about the kids down on the farm in the minor league affiliates.

I stand by what I said last year -

“I don't know that I can do it justice - screaming myself hoarse with SilentJames and Scottie, watching Dr Lev keep score, getting to tell my Sal Fasano story to people who know who Sal Fasano is, talking somewhat-respectful smack with out-of-towners, having Witchy mock my Yankees loving wife (and her getting respect for being a Yankees fan born in NY, not some bandwagon jumper), getting chants going, learning about baseball from the more experienced Hangouters, having a bastion of diehard Baltimore fans among the seas of pinstripes or red socks; it's everything going to a baseball game should be. I only got into baseball in '04, so I have learned about the game through the Hangout, and by extension, Hangout Nights.” - DREKTUNES

Hangout nights are baseball games the way they are supposed to be enjoyed...shoulder to shoulder with good friends, new friends and friends to be. The excitement of a group conscience manfested in one common love, that of the Orange and Black. No Yankee fans (well maybe one). No Red Sox bandwagoneers ... only Oriole fans and maybe a few celebrities acting as foolish anyone else.

A chance to be with people that you have formed close bonds with during the eleven winters of our discontent.

Side by side screaming, high fiving (or fistbumping), debating, relating...we moan with every walk and elate with every K. Hangout nights are golden. For some of us, the best times of our lives.

Baltimore Oriole Hangout Nights. Nights to be cherished.

You should update your testimonial to include mercilessly mocking me, DrekChris.

Stolen from a post I made in the last Hangout Night thread of '09:

"We had a great time watching a team that was 25 games below .500 play a rain-shortened game without Roberts, Markakis, Scott, or Huff.

Just wait 'til the O's are competitive!"

Last year I said.

“If you enjoy baseball, and why are you here if you don't, there is no better way to see a game. A seven time emmy award winner expressed that to me while discussing the game. Where else you gonna get to rub shoulders like that?” – weams

I liked it then as well.

Hangout Nights are absolutely fantastic! Nothing like sharing a few beers, catching a game, and discussing everything Orioles with fellow passionate Orioles fans.

Not only that, it was a good chance to discuss some of the discussions on the board in person -- heck, even make fun of some of the goofy stuff that happens here.

Simply put, I am looking forward to Hangout Nights this year, and I thank Tony and the moderators for putting them together.

The mere possibility of hanging out with Bobmc in person is worth the trip.

My wife and I went to our first Hangout Night last year and it was one of the best times we had ever had at an O's game. It was a fun time meeting up prior to the game at a local watering hole for a beer or 4 where I was able to put some faces with the names I read. The seats we had were good, especially for the price. And to top it all off, the O's came back and won the game! We will definitely try to go to more of these throughout the upcoming season!!

It's like "Cheers" at the ballgame. Everyone knows your name (and if they don't yet, they will), and you're always glad you came out. Live baseball is nice, but add two dozen of your friends - fans as passionate about the game as you are - and that's great fun.

If I can afford to go down to a game this year, I'll definitely make it on a Hangout Night.

Hangout Nights sound awesome... I'll try and come to as many as I can. Usually I end up going by myself.

Color me green with envy.

I would love to make it home for a game, especially a Hangout night, but summers are a little busy for me.

Thank God for the Humboldt Crabs.

Hangout night is great since you're able to spend the night with fellow crazy O's fans. Have a great time and cheer for the O's. Will try to go to as many as possible this year.

The first hangout night that I attended last year was only the third baseball game I had gotten to see since I moved back from Anchorage. I had seen NO Orioles baseball games live and in person for just over 5 years before that. I was hooked after the first Hangout Night, and I won't miss another one if I can help it. There isn't a better way to watch an Orioles game. Sure, it's the upper deck out in left field. Sure, you can barely see what's going on at home plate and half the seats in the stadium are empty anyway. It doesn't matter. I would take sitting out in left field with this group of lunatics than sitting anywhere else in the stadium. I didn't just get to watch baseball games last year. I forged friendships that will hopefully stay with me through the years. I got to cheer and scream my head off. I got to remember exactly why I'm an Orioles fan in the first place: because there is nothing better on this earth to me than sitting with a group of Orioles fans, laughing and screaming and carrying on while cheering on the team that we all grew up with. The team may be awful and they may be painful to watch more often than they're not... but memories from Hangout Nights will last with me forever.

OH games are great. You get to talk to people who you know share the same excitement and pain as an Orioles fan. It is an excellent way to make new friends and you are always going to have a good time there, no matter if the team loses. OH games are an excellent way to spend a Saturday. I look forward to doing the same in 2009!!
