I recently joined an espn baseball league where I pick a real team and get 5 keepers from that team before the draft.

I selected:

Nick Markakis
Brian Roberts
Matt Weiters
Adam Jones
Jeremy Guthrie

Should I stick with those 5 or take a chance on Pie or Hill? I personally believe Pie and Hill will be absolute steals...but at the same time at least I know for sure I'm getting a solid pitcher with Guthrie.

how many teams in the league?

Honestly even though Guthrie is the best of those 3 for this year, you are better off going with a guy like Pie or Hill they have more upside, and it is not that hard to find a player like Guthrie on the waiver wire unless your league is very very deep.

You cant go wrong with Gut though but I think I would take a shot on Pie if I was you.

Go with your "Gut"

Stick with the 5 of them, you can get Pie or Hill in or about the dead last round without wasting a keeper. I have yet to see them get drafted in any league.

How many teams are in the draft? I think Guthrie is definitely a better choice than Pie or Hill at this point. I think you want to go for current bang for your buck with the fifth keeper pick. Huff might be worth considering too. Get someone who you might actually draft in the late rounds, because there aren't any other prospect type players in our system who I think are worth squirreling away.

Huff. Guthrie you can grab in the last round; Huff is overvalued because of last year, but still a better pick.

Yea I wasnt even thinking of that, keep Huff.

I love Guthrie as much as the next guy but he is not a great fantasy player, all he provides is a low ERA he dosent help you with Wins or Ks. According to ESPN player rater last year he was the 53rd best SP, I dont think you can really expect much improvement. So you are better off keeping a guy like Huff. I may be the only one but I would keep Pie over Guthrie, he provides more upside and you can get Guthrie like production easily if you are paying attention to FA and Waiver Wire.

There are 20 teams in the league. After looking at the settings, I decided to go with the advice a couple of you gave and get Huff. It is a head to head points system and it seems like hitting is more valued. ERA isn't even a category, which was one of Guthrie's strong points.
