You should be able to listen here: http://www.1057thefan.com/pages/217623.php

Luis Castillo flies out to lead off the game, and the next batter pops out on a nice play by Gomez at short. Two quick outs for Baez.

Daniel Murphy grounds out on a slow roller to Wigginton at third.

3-up, 3-down first inning for Baez. Is he pitching his way into the OD rotation?

Leadoff man Ryan Freel flies out to conclude a long at-bat. Oliver Perez pitching for the Mets.

Daniel Murphy grounds out on a slow roller to Wigginton at third.

3-up, 3-down first inning for Baez. Is he pitching his way into the OD rotation?

He can get 3 outs in a row. That gives him a leg, I mean and arm up on the situation.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:17 PM
Adam Jones bounces out.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:19 PM
Markakis grounds out to second. Baez and Perez trade perfect first innings.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:21 PM
Nick Evans grounds out to short on the first pitch of the second.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:23 PM
Base hit for "Ike Davis" (if that is his real name). So much for Baez's perfect game.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:27 PM
Marlon Anderson grounds out to short. The runner was in motion, so the O's could only get the out at first. Runner at second, two outs now.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:29 PM
Valentin bounces a comebacker to Baez for an easy third out. Middle of the 2nd; no score.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:32 PM
Huff pops to second to open the second.

BillySmith
03-20-2009, 01:33 PM
Cy Baez. Hope he goes 5.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:34 PM
The ex-Met Wigginton becomes the first O's baserunner by drawing a walk.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:38 PM
I missed a couple of batters there. Sounds like the inning is over.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:40 PM
Leadoff single for Jeremy Reed in the 3rd.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:41 PM
On the next pitch, Castro rips a single up the middle. Baez's breaking ball has been poor today, according to Joe Angel.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:42 PM
Castillo bunts the runners over. Nothing like spring training small ball!

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:43 PM
An Alex Cora groundout to second plates Reed from third. Mets take a 1-0 lead.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:45 PM
Murphy lines an RBI single to make it a 2-0 game.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:48 PM
Another hanging breaking ball results in a Nick Evans single. Fourth hit of the inning for the Mets. Maybe we shouldn't pencil Baez into the rotation just yet...

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:50 PM
Pie catches a wind-swept foul popup to end the inning. On to the bottom of the 3rd...it's 2-0 Mets.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:52 PM
Pie tries to bunt his way aboard, but bunts it right back at Perez for the first out.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:53 PM
Zaun bounces to short.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:56 PM
Gomez rips a single with two down for the Birds' first hit.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 01:59 PM
Freel works a walk. Two on, two out for Jones.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:01 PM
Jones with a grounder to short; Cora gets the force at third. That's a rare 6-5 on your scorecard (as if anyone's keeping score to a spring training game). O's strand two runners and trail 2-0 as we head to the 4th.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:02 PM
Adam Jones tracks down a fly in the gap to retire Marlon Anderson. One out in the 4th.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:03 PM
Single to right for Valentin.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:05 PM
The Mets' third-base coach is Razor Shines. One of the all-time great baseball names.

Jose Valentin moves his 80-year-old legs to steal second base.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:06 PM
Groundout moves the runner to third with two down.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:09 PM
Ty Wigginton shows some defensive chops with a diving stop on a sharp one-hopper to third. He gets the final out. On to the bottom of the 4th; it's still 2-0 Mets.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:12 PM
Bobby Parnell now pitching for the Mets. No relation to Chris Parnell, who plays Dr. Spaceman on 30 Rock.

Markakis strikes out on three pitches to lead off the inning.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:12 PM
Huff with an opposite-field single to left.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:14 PM
Wigginton follows with a single. Let's see if the O's can get something cooking.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:17 PM
Luke Scott hits a bullet, but directly at the shortstop, who doubles off Huff at second. That's just bad luck.

On to the 5th. O's trail, 2-0.

It will be interesting to see if Baez can go 5 innings.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:20 PM
Leadoff walk to Castillo in the 5th.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:22 PM
Baez Ks Cora on three pitches for his first strikeout.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:24 PM
David Murphy socks one over the head of Adam Jones. As the ball rattles around, Murphy ends up with an RBI triple. It's 3-0 now.

wildcard
03-20-2009, 02:24 PM
Jones is going to have to make an adjustment and play little deeper.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:27 PM
Evans bounces to third, with Wigginton freezing the runner at third. Two down.

That's gonna be it for Baez. In comes Albers. Baez couldn't quite get through five innings.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:32 PM
Yikes. Felix Pie gets himself all turned around on a sharp Davis liner, and it goes for an RBI double. Not a pretty play there.

It's 4-0 now. That run is charged to Baez.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:33 PM
Popup to third ends the inning. Halfway home, it's 4-0 Mets.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:38 PM
Pie whiffs.

Awfully quiet in this thread today. Perhaps people are suffering from spring training burnout. And we've still got two weeks!

Zaun singles.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:41 PM
Gomez grounds into a double play. He did that a lot during his first stint as an Oriole, too.

Inning over. On to the 6th. 4-0 Mets.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:44 PM
Valentin flies out to left to start the 6th.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:53 PM
Albers gets two outs in the 6th, and Ray gets the other.

Interview with Kranitz. Says he's pretty confident that Uehara will be ready to start the season on time, but is skeptical about Hill.

Says Guthrie's Opening Day assignment could be in jeopardy if he doesn't get back from the WBC soon.

Says guys like Bass, Hendrickson, and Baez give the team options because they can either start or pitch long relief.

Praises Zaun for the way he's calling games.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:54 PM
Freel flies out to open the 6th, but Jones singles.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:56 PM
Markakis with a single off the glove of Valentin at second. Another scoring opportunity for the O's with two on and one out.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 02:58 PM
Huff grounds out weakly to the pitcher. Both runners move into scoring position, but with two outs.

Parnell is done after 2 2/3 innings. In comes O'Day, whose name is Pig Latin for "Doe."

Thanks for the updates!

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:02 PM
Wigginton lines out to third, leaving two more runners stranded. After 6 innings, the O's trail, 4-0.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:05 PM
Rene Rivera flies to shallow left. One out to start the 7th. Ray is still pitching.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:06 PM
That speedster Wigginton rushes over to catch a foul pop on the third-base side. Two down.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:07 PM
And now a flyout to center. Three up, three down...Chris Ray cruises once again.

Seventh-inning stretch time in a 4-0 game.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:10 PM
Luke Scott leads off the 7th with a flyout against Day-O.

Er...O'Day.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:11 PM
Pie grounds to short and is 0-for-3.

Here's Wieters!

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:13 PM
Wieters walks. Pitchers are afraid of the guy.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:15 PM
Murphy whiffs, inning over. O's are still scoreless. We head to the 8th in a 4-0 game.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:17 PM
Bob McCrory is in and freezes Evans on a called strike three.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:19 PM
Another strikeout for McCrory as he fans Davis.

And now a comebacker to McCrory. He got all three outs himself this inning.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:23 PM
Freel gets on base by striking out, when the third strike gets past the catcher. Whatever works.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:24 PM
Jones raps a single up the middle. Two on, none out. Will the O's finally be able to capitalize?

Brian Stokes is now pitching for the Mets, BTW.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:27 PM
Markakis flies out to center; runners hold.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:28 PM
Huff flies out, then Wigginton gets plunked. Bases loaded for Jolbert Cabrera.

Three Run Homer
03-20-2009, 03:30 PM
Albers gets two outs in the 6th, and Ray gets the other.

Interview with Kranitz. Says he's pretty confident that Uehara will be ready to start the season on time, but is skeptical about Hill.

Says Guthrie's Opening Day assignment could be in jeopardy if he doesn't get back from the WBC soon.

Says guys like Bass, Hendrickson, and Baez give the team options because they can either start or pitch long relief.

Praises Zaun for the way he's calling games.

My recollection is that Kranitz indicated that Hill might be in the bullpen to start the season, until he can get stretched out. He didn't mention the idea of starting him on the DL.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:33 PM
Cabrera grounds out to short, and the O's leave three more runners on base. How many LOB do they have today? It's been a blah game for the offense.

On to the 9th in a 4-0 game.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:36 PM
Mickolio now pitching, and gets the first batter to ground out to first.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:37 PM
A popout to short. That is all.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:40 PM
Andy Green walks. He's the first Mets baserunner since the 5th inning.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:42 PM
Mickolio strikes out the last batter.

Great job by the O's bullpen today. Albers, Ray, McCrory, and Mickolio combined for 4 1/3 scoreless innings.

Last chance for the O's. They head to the bottom of the 9th, trailing 4-0.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:46 PM
Pie takes a called strike three from Elmer Dessens to finish an 0-for-4 day.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:47 PM
Matt Wieters draws his second walk of the game. I'm telling you, pitchers are terrified of him.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:49 PM
Murphy's grounder to short could've been a game-ending double play...but the SS bobbled it, and didn't get anyone out. Two more runners on base for the Birds, with one out.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:53 PM
Freel, in his fifth plate appearance of the day, singles to left. Bases loaded for Adam Jones with one out.

PaulFolk
03-20-2009, 03:56 PM
Adam Jones hits one to second, and the Mets correctly turn the game-ending double play this time. Game over-- O's lose, 4-0.

The offense was terrible today. Squandered plenty of scoring opportunities and stranded 11 runners on base. Good thing these games don't count in the standings.

Pie whiffs.

Awfully quiet in this thread today. Perhaps people are suffering from spring training burnout. And we've still got two weeks!
