So it's 1-0 O's in the 3rd inning thanks to a 2-out bomb by Adam Jones. He crushed that ball.
Simon has pitched 2 scoreless innings so far tonight.
BTW, the Mets are broadcasting this game and it is available on MLBTV for those who subscribe. ;)

Hopefully we'll see a couple at bats from Pie tonight.

He currently isn't in the lineup. I'm sure he'll sub in at some point.
As for that lineup we're facing--Simon is in cruise control right now. He's pitched 3 scoreless innings, including a recent strikeout of Reyes. He's had great stuff and has gotten a lot of ground balls. The Mets announcers are very impressed (not that it matters).

Jones destroyed the home run ball. It cleared a billboard beyond the fence, the announcers estimated it went 430-440 feet.

This is the first ST training game I've been able to watch (here in NJ on SNY) and I have to say, Simon is looking really good.

I am watching the game right now on SNY: Simon looks very good so far. Hit 95 a few times, consistently at 93 92 MPH. Threw a nice breaking ball to Jose Reyes that tied him up--Mets announcers also commenting on how impressive Simon has looked tonight. Adam Jones also hit a monster homerun to center, IMO going to be a great player.

Simon enters the 4th inning having thrown just 34 pitches (23 for strikes). A pretty efficient & impressive outing for him so far this evening.

I was just wondering if D. Wright had something to do with that for purely FBB reasons. I also did not expect See-mone to pitch a shutout...:scratchchinhmm:

Moeller hit a single over SS head which was tracked down easily by the LF Murphy but he bobbled it and Moeller pounced on the mistake and easily took second.
Good hustle, but I suppose bad news for the Moeller haters ;)

Very good to see SEE-MONE having another solid performance (so far). Finally someone is manning up and taking advantage of the opportunity. This lineup he's facing is no joke either.
Can someone who's able to watch give a little insight on how he looks? What pitches he's using? Velocity?

I'm not a pitching expert but on his fastballs Simon looks like he's rearing back and cranking it.
After 2 easy pop outs, Castillo rips a base hit in LCF and Jones' throw is off the mark to 2B
Perez strands him making the 3rd out

His stuff has been excellent. He's used his offspeed pitch a few times to foll Mets batters. He's been very poised too. When he gave up the homer to Murphy he went 3-0 on Wright then gave up a hit, but then settled down to induce a DP by Delgado. He's really been on cruise control all evening.

This is pretty much exactly how I feel. On one hand i'm tickled to death that someone has finally stepped up, OTOH Eaton has not IMO & it's just ashame that Penn has basically handed his spot to someone else (unless he has a good performance tomorrow).

Simon has pitched well tonight, and that likely has won him a rotation spot.
What's important to keep in mind is that the rotation this year is going to be a revolving door. Simon will likely be in there kick it off, and if we're basing it on what's been done this spring, he's earned it.
History, however, tells us that he likely won't be long for it. Here's hoping history's wrong.
