That's basically the lineup I'd expect. I'd flip Zaun and Pie though. Place a switch hitter in between the two lefties. Not a big deal. But it also puts really good speed at 8,9,1, and 2.
Really looking forward to watching Koji.

I know Scott needs to get some playing time, but Wigginton has a lifetime .353 Avg against Wang. I would have liked to see him in there instead of Scott.

I think Uehara is going to have to get used to the fact that major leaguers, especially Yankees, are going to take a lot of borderline pitches that might result in swings in Japan.

That he lifts his elbow to get his arm into the high cocked position as his foot lands. That is one of two ways to get there. The other way is to swing your arm down, out, and up into the high cocked position.
If anyone is recording this, is there any way you can upload the video? I'd love to see if his timing is impacted at all.

Yanks' defense seems shaky at best, though Gardner seemed capable in CF Monday.
Two runs, had Wang throw close to 25 pitches, and in the end Huff's blunder didn't hurt us. Solid inning all around.
Let's see what Uehara does with a lead and more control on those butterflies.

No, I doubt we called a steal. I think Huff was trying to get a good jump. Hit and run probably, but there's no way Huff was running to steal. That didn't happen at all last season.
And no, I don't think Huff scores on that play even if he's running. Ransom knocked the ball down quick enough, and Jeter was backing the play up. Huff doesn't have the speed to score even if he had gotten a jump.

Plus you can't assume Mora would've singled if Huff had still been on base. There might've been a different pitch selection, different positioning, etc.

Using TVant here from Tampa, Not the best feed though a little herky jerky, but much prefer listening to Singleton and whoever the other guy is to our dunderheads.
Wow. Bad throw by Zaun, but great save by B-Rob!

Palmer knew that throw was off the instant it left Mora's hand.

Oh definitely. It was a bad move, but I'd hesitate to go as far as saying that it assuredly took a run off the board.
Good save by Huff. He's not so brutal over there so far. I think we can agree that THAT move saved a run. ;)
That could end up being a problem this year. Huff's not the first baseman that Millar was, and Mora can get wild on throws.
Also, since I was at the game on Monday, that last call was my first Gary Thorne "atem ball" of 2009. That made me happy.

He wasn't patient, but that was definitely his pitch to hit. In June, that's a homer. ;)
On a side note, the Yes commentators were talking about Zaun's mask and how mean looking the Oriole on the side is. Singleton says: Have you ever seen a real live Oriole (speaking of how meek they look) and the other gentleman says: Yeah, I'm sitting next to one.....hahah.

What do you think is main reason for the steals?
Koji or Zaun?
I'm leaning towards Koji. While Zaun's not great at it, Koji seems to be very deliberate to the plate, and he's not exactly bringing heat. When you're deliberate to the plate and you're throwing 88-90, people will steal on you.

LOL...I was thinking about your reaction as soon as I saw that.
Probably Zaun.
Having watch him (and the Blue Jays far too often for my liking) the last couple of years in Toronto he struggled with the same thing.
Yeah, probably a bit of both, honestly. Koji's not doing him any favors. Zaun doesn't usually do himself any favors either.

I had a guy sitting in front of me on Monday that was griping everytime we didn't bunt in what he considered to be a bunting situation. Which was anytime there was a runner on first or second and less than 2 outs. He and I argued about it a bit.

Hey all. I just caught my DVR up to real time so forgive me if this has been mentioned.
Hearing the Zaun interview made me wonder if he might end up as Uehara's personal pitcher once Wieters comes up. The groundwork he is laying now with communication and familiarity could be hard to match. Just an observation.

Odd I thought they won it with pitching and not giving outs away.

In some situations, I'm good with it. In a lot of situations, it's handing away an out. I believe, personally, that you only hand over an out if you're scoring a run off of it.
That's just me, though. I understand why teams to it. :)

Reds are up 4-2 over the Mets through 2.5 innings. Volquez is being squeezed a bit (Pelfrey is too) so he's throwing more pitches than I'd like to see but he's dealing pretty well overall. This umpiring crew was has been sticky with the strike zone this whole series. Joey Votto hit a BOMB of a HR that scored more runs in the first inning than they scored in the entire game on Monday, LOL :laughlol:
/end Reds update because I'm sure no one else in here cares, LOL ;)
