I really like Paulsen in Round 3 maybe even Round 2 if Jordan likes him too. I also like Matt Davidson in the second round if he is still available.

I like the idea of taking Seager with a 2nd round pick.

I think some are scared about his shoulder surgery (frayed labrum, I believe) and long term capability of sticking at catcher.

That's way too high for me -- I'm not a huge fan of below-average power at 3B. I like him around the 4th round, maybe, but he'd have to basically reach his ceiling to provide 2:5 value.

He hit a ton of doubles though. Perhaps those doubles would turn into HRs as he would add more muscle to his frame. And his BA and OBP were both very good and second to Ackley on the team. He only had 4 less walks than Ackley and the same # of K's.

Boy, I'd love to get Jeff Malm at 2:5.

Oh, I like him as a player a lot. I saw 8 UNC games this year -- three live -- so I've seen quite a bit of him. I just think 2:5 is a bit of an overdraft. I'd be more pleased with Dickerson in the 4th than Seager in the 2nd. Seager a little more valuable defensively, but Dickerson having a slightly higher offensive ceiling. I'd actually rate Dickerson and Seager within about a round of each other, for whatever that is worth :).

I imagine he'll be there -- gotta love his power but I'm not sure the rest of the game is necessarily there. Seems like a good candidate to slip a bit and end up at USC.

I agree that nearly his entire worth is tied into the bat, but his bat appears to be special... similar to last year's Brett Lawrie (though Lawrie was a righty). Like you, I normally prefer a more multi-faceted player, but a Giambi-type in R2 is okay with me. ;)
Malm is just one I'd like to get, but there are a twenty or so players that I could see us getting at 2:5 and I'd be happy with any of them at this point.

I agree as usual... Seager seems like a solid R3-4 guy, but I prefer players with more upside.

I do not know if you have heard of this high schooler named Luke Bailey (C, Troup County High School GA) but he has a committment to Auburn right now but could turn proffessional if offered enough money. I have no idea what his asking price is and I can't imagine much because he is going to get tommy john surgery on his elbow.
But he has had a good year this year as he batted .569 but only had 6 home runs compared to his 13 he had his junior year. But what really makes his stock great is
"He just has a good rapport with the pitchers," Garner said. "He knows how to read the different pitchers, and he knows how to go out there and get on their tail a little bit and get them focused. Or he knows when to go out there and put his arm around their shoulder and settle them down and give them confidence. He's a good people person."

Sounds like he has a really good feel for catching, I know we already have a superstar catcher and a solid catcher in the minors. But is Bailey a type of guy we might want to take a late round flier on?
I am just bringing up an idea, I do not know what his projections are. I am not saying we give him whatever money he wants, but I wouldn't mind taking a late round flyer on him. Anyone else heard anything?

He was one of the top prospects, most likely a mid-first rounder before the injury. Since he has that scholarship locked in, he might be better suited geting the surgery, going to school and then re-entering the draft in a couple years. He's going to drop too much because of the injury to take the lesser payday I think though.
