I know who you have for the men. (I say that in jest, but if you want to make an argument for someone else, I'd love to hear it.)
Who wins for the women?

I actually have Federer winning...but that is just a gut feeling. Nadal has been the best player in the world for awhile now. Looking forward to a lot of matches.
Possible quarter-finals
Tsonga/Del Potro v Djokovic match
Monfils v Federer match
Nadal v Verdasco match (tennis fans don't forget their match from the Aussie Open)
Murray/Stepanek/Lopez/Cilic all in the same grouping. Winner will play the winner of the Safin v Simon match.
Here is someone rooting big time for Federer to finally beat Nadal. Nadal has 1 opponent to worry about, Verdasco, but this isn't a hard court. So really Nadal willl coast to the Finals (like he always had). Federer has to worry about Djokovic, Mofils, and even Del Potro or Tsonga. He isn't going to have an easy trip to face Nadal.
I am saying a Nadal v Federer Finals. 5 sets with Federer finally getting the career Grandslam.

Federer really scared me this morning. Hopefully he can improve on this match.

Wow I really can't believe Nadal lost. I know I had Federer winning, but in my head I thought that it wasn't really possible for Nadal to lose on Clay. Wow . Just Wow.

Nadal losing in the 4th round at the French has to be one of the bigger sporting upsets in recent memory, maybe even this decade. That is a huge shocker.

I agree.
I wonder how Federer is going to react to this in his next match. There were 2 players favorite over Federer going into the French and both of those guys are out (Nadal and Djokovic) now. Federer has looked far from good so far. I wonder if this is going to lift his game on from here on out.

I expect Fed to respond very well to this development. This is by far his best chance, maybe his only chance left to win the career Grand Slam. Of course, tying Pete is on the line as well. This one would single-handedly make him the best ever, statistically speaking anyway. I just don't see him blowing it.

2 years ago I would agree, but this is a different Fed.
I already think he is the best ever.

So Andy Roddick is still around in the French Open and Nadal isn't it? Raise your hand if you predicted that one.

Right now he appears to be doing the opposite as he is down 2 sets to 0 to Tommy Haas.

Luckily he just nabbed the 3rd set. Let's see if Haas loses his cool.

He just got bageled in the 4th set I think that qualifies.

haha. I think he got bagled because he got broke for a 2nd time. No point wasting energy in the 4th.
Glad Federer won (i have a bracket with my friends).

Serena out with her usual grace after defeat...
"In the third set I had an opportunity and I got really tight, and I pretty much gave it to her," Williams said. "It was like, 'Here, do you want to go to the semis? Because I don't.' She was like, 'OK."
"Honestly, I think I lost because of me, and not because of anything she did," Williams said
Is there something in the Williams sisters' genes that makes them incapable of giving credit to an opponent?

Serena still thinks she is the #1 player in the world.

It's a 1-1 match and if you think you are the better player you always look to what you didn't do vs what your opponent did do. Nadal did the same thing when he lost. It's just being ultra competitive and having that I can't be beat mentality. Even when you aren't the better player for that day it's still hard to give in and admit it. It's a product of hating to lose which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

If it were a one-time thing I would agree with you and have no problem with it. In fact, I think I'd probably praise her for her honesty instead of just spouting off a bunch of cliches.
But with the Williams sisters, this is a constant thing. I honestly don't think I've ever heard them praise an opponent. Every time one of them loses, it seems they make it a point to say something along the lines of "It was nothing my opponent did."

Nothing better than seeing Serena lose!
I would say that Venus over the past few years has grown up alot and doesn't pout and sulk after a loss like her sister.
I definitely agree that Serena has never given an opponent any credit for a victory.

I have a hard time believing that anyone hates Federer. He really is the nicest guy ever. Glad he got this one.

Late to the party here, but I'm also really happy for Federer. What a great champion he is, and now he finally gets his French Open.
Congrats to Robin Soderling as well, who has a heck of a future ahead of him.

Late to the party as well, but I'm so happy Federer won the French! Great accomplishment.
Now, though, I really wish he had won the Aussie Open - he would have had a legitimate shot at a calender year Grand Slam.
