Hey everybody -

Any here familiar with Lexicon's line of interfaces for recording? I have the Alpha, and I'm having all manner of trouble with recording and playback. The Missus thinks there are driver issues. I dunno. Cubase was complicated (I'm not what you call technologically minded), so we got Audacity, but still had the driver issues. Anybody? Successful help gets you rep and a beer if/ when I see you.

Describe, as accurately and detailed as you can, the problems.

Lessee - when I plug the Alpha in, the cpu can't find the drivers, even though I installed them (to the best of my knowledge). Then, playback only comes through the speakers on the cpu.

Yeah, sounds like a bad install to me. Uninstall everything. Then, make sure the Alpha is unplugged. Then, put the disc back in, and start an install. When I installed it, at the point where it tells you to plug the interface in, Windows also popped up with a "found new hardware" prompt. The directions said to go ahead and use that if it comes up, using the defaults.

Then, when you (hopefully) have a clean install, you want to make sure the programs you are using (whether it be Cubase or Audacity) is configured so the Alpha is set to be the input AND the output. In Audacity that's in Edit-Preferences-Audio I/O tab. There are drop down menus for the input and output device, select the Alpha for both. In Cubase I do believe it's the Device tab, then Device setup, but since my Lexicon unit isn't on this machine I can't know for sure.

If all else fails, maybe I can pay you a visit to help you sort this.

Pardon my ignorance, but what do I select as I/O? There's no "Alpha" listed for play back; There's -

Microsoft Sound Mapper
Speaker and Dual Headphones
SPDIF
Digital Output Device
Independent Dual Headphones
Speakers (2 USB device)

I did find the Alpha in recording, though.........

Well, if it's not being listed, somethings wrong with the install. Is this after an uninstall/reinstall?

I did find "Speakers (2- usb audio device), and that seems to work, but now I'm getting a lot of static through the headphones. Tried two pair just in case.
