Stadium Renovations...

I know a few years ago they UMD had a press release saying they were putting in a new score board and renovating Tyser Tower. Which they have done.

But it also talked about lowering the field about 5 feet and installing Nex-turf or some kind of artificial surface.

As far as I know the field wasn't lowered... does anyone have any inside info on this?

Lowering the field is part of Phase 2 of the project. Tyser Tower and the scoreboard were Phase 1. No date has been set for Phase 2...it was thought the additional money raised from selling the luxury suites would eventually pay for the remainder of the projects. But with them only selling about 2/3 of the suites, season ticket sales at only about 80% of last year, and the budget cut to the point the team has to take buses to to one of their games in NC, I wouldn't count on seeing the next phase start anytime soon.
