You'd think home teams would try to keep their player's stats lower in order to lower their value when their contracts were up. And, conversely, raise the stats of those players they were looking to deal.
Not too surprised by this. This sort of thing happens in baseball, too. How often is the home team given a hit when it may very well have been an error?

When I was starting out, I covered a lot of high school hoops and would cross-check the stats I kept with those of the scorekeeper. The numbers were just absurd at times.
On more than one occasion, a coach or parent would call in to dispute the stats in my story. They would claim that a kid had 35 points and 20 assists in a game that his team won 50-45....so apparently there were some baskets where he assisted himself.
