So I just saw this and thought I would post it, but if it's true that would make me giddy.

According to Hockey30.com, they report that their Sweden correspondent has spoken to Forsberg and he wants to play for the Caps. And the interest is mutual from the Capitals according to the correspondent. Forsberg is currently playing over in Sweden working on an attempt for a comeback in the NHL. If this does happen, the Capitals will have to figure out what do with Michael Nylander. If they can free up the cap space that is Nylander's contract, they could land Peter Forsberg. Time will tell. Could this be the signing, if Forsberg remain helathy, to get the Caps to the Cup. Stay tuned...

Not only would we land Forsberg, but we could jettison Nylander? Wow.

This has been floating around for almost 2 years now, since Backstrom debuted. I think he was their first choice as a veteran to tutor Nick, but they went with Nylander when Forsberg was having trouble coming back from the injuries.

Something is going down with Nylander though, his wife LOVES the school they had their son enrolled at in Potomac (that's why she wanted to come back here), and he didn't come back to school this year.

Apparently Nylander didn't play at all in pre season. I heard something as well about some sort of resolution to this coming before Thursday's game.

In other news I'm not too happy about Alzner not making the team. What's this kid have to do to get some ice time. No need to keep someone like Schultz on the team over him.

How did he look in the pre season?

From what I read he did fine. His two main problems appeared to be that he wasn't flashy enough. I read a few different quotes from Boudreau saying that Alzner would have to wow them to get on the roster (and replace a returnee) seeing as all the d men were returning from last years team. The other problem was he has a two way contract right now meaning they could send him to Hershey without exposing him to waivers. I'm sure he will be up here at some point, but would have liked to seen him make the team out of camp.

I was really hoping to see a significant upgrade at D this season. It seemed to be their biggest weakness last year, and it sounds like it'll be the same thing all over again.
