Did anyone else know they're releasing a movie about Michael Oher? It's set to be released in theaters late-November.

Sandra Bullock and Tim McGraw play his adopted parents. :clap3:

Shoot: I saw the previews for that and it looked very good but I didn't realize it was about Oher. Nice.

He's not really a big fan of the book or the movie.

The movie doesn't look too bad in the previews. But read the book: it's really good.

Oher? Any reason?

Does he think the kid playing him is too fat? ;)

I think I saw the preview that Lex saw, judging by the time stamp.

My visceral reaction to it (aka the movie looks craptastic to me) led me to post it in the rants section

I just don't trust a movie with Sandra Bullock these days, I suppose.

I thought The Proposal was a decent chick flick. No complaints from me after the wife made me rent it. Plus, Bullock looked stunning with no clothes on. After reading the book, I feel that she's spot on for the part.

From what I've heard people say it's that he really doesn't like how he's portrayed. Didn't like that in the book, REALLY doesn't like it in the movie..

I was torn on book. Overall I think it was good but I think what bothered me about it was I couldn't quite tell if Lewis was trying to convey the story of rich white folks adopting a poor black kid so he can play football at their school(s) and all the issues that arise with that. Or if he was trying to tell the story of Michael Oher. By that I mean I think the message got lost a little because Lewis never settled one way or the other on it, at least to me he didn't.

I think that may be why Oher wasn't happy with how he was portrayed. Seems that to make the story the length it needed to be Lewis kind of explained that Oher was a dumb black kid and left it at that.

just my opinion.

I found it more like, this is a kid that from the start never really had a chance. Because of the duel opportunities provided by the new family adapting him and his physical abilities fitting a rare and valuable skill in our society, he was able to find a new course in his life.

I can see where Lewis could be accused of writing the story to make it seem that the family could have picked up any kid off of the street, and maybe that's where he feels the portrayal is off. But without Oher and what he did, it's just a story about a rich white family saving a poor black kid.

That's really what I'm worried about the movie becoming: it's a two-part story about the family saving the kid, and the kid saving himself. Despite all of the coaches in the previews it appears to be selling as mostly the first part.

I think he said he does not like the fact that the movie makes him look like and idiot.

I don't know, I came out of reading that book thinking the family was kind of sketchy, or at least rubbed me the wrong way. I sort of got the sense at times that it wasn't family saving destitute kid, but more of family bringing in freakishly large and athletic kid to help their local football teams. I did really enjoy the book though.
