Sept. 6 - Navy @ Ravens Stadium (4PM start)

Sept. 11 - vs. Morgan State

Sept. 18 @ West Virginia

Sept. 25 - vs. Florida International

Oct. 2 - vs. Duke

Oct. 9 - Bye

Oct. 16 - @ Clemson

Oct. 23 - @ Boston College

Oct. 30 - vs. Wake Forest

Nov. 6 - @ Miami

Nov. 13 - @ Virginia

Nov. 20 - vs. Florida State

Nov. 27 - vs. NC State

Somewhat interesting schedule, what with playing Navy and renewing the West Virginia rivalry. Here's hoping last year's super young team grows up some and is able to turn some of those close losses into wins.

ETA gametimes won't be set until 12 days before the games, and in some cases, 6 days before the game. The only gametime that has been set is the Labor Day game against Navy, which will be on ESPN.

What a positively crappy home schedule.

It's never too early.

Sept. 6 - Navy, LOSS
Sept. 11 - vs. Morgan State, WIN
Sept. 18 @ West Virginia, LOSS
Sept. 25 - vs. Florida International, WIN
Oct. 2 - vs. Duke, WIN
Oct. 9 - Bye
Oct. 16 - @ Clemson, LOSS
Oct. 23 - @ Boston College, LOSS
Oct. 30 - vs. Wake Forest, LOSS
Nov. 6 - @ Miami, LOSS
Nov. 13 - @ Virginia, LOSS
Nov. 20 - vs. Florida State, LOSS
Nov. 27 - vs. NC State, WIN

Final record, 4-8 (2-6 ACC)

Interesting note on the Navy game...the Boise St/VA Tech game at FedEx Field originally scheduled for Oct 2 was moved to Labor Day and is also scheduled to be shown on ESPN. Will MD-Navy get moved to ESPN2, as the less appealing matchup, or will the start times be staggered so ESPN can do a Labor Day double-header? I don't think the start time for BSU/VT has been announced yet, so they may schedule that one for 7:30 so that they can go there right after MD/Navy. Either way, college football will definitely have a Maryland flavor to it on Labor Day.

I see it the same way you see it 4-8 (2-6 ACC). That is an absolute brutal schedule for Ralph to try and defend his job.

Terps playing Notre Dame at FedEx Field Nov 12, 2011. Oddly enough, Notre Dame will be the "home" team.

Makes sense -- this is just so Maryland can split the gate receipts with Notre Dame. If Maryland was the home team, Maryland would have to split the gate receipts with the ACC, and thus get a lower share.

Frankly, I'm surprised Navy isn't the home team for this year's Maryland-Navy game for that exact reason.

ETA I'm wondering which OOC game the Terps will be dropping (or postponing). They are scheduled to play Towson, WVU, Temple, and Rhode Island all at home. My guess is they drop Rhode Island.

Navy was the home team last time they met. And I believe the reason MD being the home team for the Navy game is better is for TV reasons. With MD as the home team, the ACCs TV contract means the game will be on ESPN/ABC. If Navy was the home team, it probably would have wound up on CBS College Sports TV, which shows most Navy home games and has far less distribution.

In case anyone hasn't heard yet, it's looking like the Terps will be playing a 2-game series with Texas in a few years. As of right now, the first game will be played in 2014 at FedEx Field, technically as a neutral site (sort of the "home" game for MD, but a bigger paycheck) with the trip to Austin coming in 2015.

It would definitely be cool if Leach was the Terps coach by then. He competed pretty well against UT when he was at TT, and with much less talent than Texas had.

I love this idea for a series. In all likelihood, we'll get crushed both times. But we'll play with nothing to lose and nothing bad can happen when you play like that. Plus, the team will make tons of money from the game at FedEx... My guess is that it will come pretty close to selling out.

I really hope that Leach is the coach by then, but I really don't see it happening. Why would he want to come to Maryland when he's really a good enough coach to make a step up form Texas Tech?

I'm sure the crowd will be a good one. It will be a chance for MD fans to see a marquee team that they probably wouldn't see in person otherwise. And there will certainly be a large contingent of UT fans at the FedEx game too.

Interesting point with regard to the coaching situation...this series was actually spawned when MD and Texas teamed up to petition the NCAA about a new rule that limits the contact that "coaches-in-waiting" can have with recruits. Basically, CIW's are now limited to the same amount of contact with recruits as a head coach is. MD and Texas, currently the only schools with CIW's under contract, wanted a grandfather clause since their contracts were finalized before the rule went into effect several months ago, so they joined together to petition the NCAA. No word yet on whether they will be successful. And regardless of whomever happens to be coaching MD at the time, Texas will almost certainly have their current DC, Will Muschamp, as their head coach by then.

The Texas series is a done deal (http://weblogs.baltimoresun.com/sports/college/maryland_terps/blog/2010/09/maryland_texas_agree_to_football_series.html). Nice that the Terps home game will actually be played at Byrd Stadium instead of FedEx.

Hmm...looking at that link, it's ambiguous as to if it will be in College Park or at the Redskins Stadium.

My guess is the game winds up at Fed Ex Field.

The blog post was apparently changed after I read and posted the link. Barker definitely stated the game would be at CP originally...but I can see why UT would probably insist on Fed Ex, as I'm sure they would like to sell lots of tickets to their fans to either travel to DC or to alumni already in the area. That's too bad, it would be cool to see teams like Texas and Notre Dame (next year) play at Byrd and have it be a true "home game." But, money talks, and apparently Maryland has sunk to the depths where they have to shift their home games to neutral sites just to get a paycheck.

So...we're now Virginia Tech? :p

The MD/Notre Dame game was a bad example on my part, since it is a one-time only neutral site game and there isn't a UM/ND game scheduled for South Bend. But if we were talking about a home-and-home between Texas and Virginia Tech, I bet VPI's home game would be in Blacksburg, not FedEx. So no, we're not Virginia Tech.....we're even worse. ;) :(

When does MD basketball start? These guys are horrible. Struggling at home against FIU? :laughlol:

Texas A & M and Rutgers had to come from behind in the 4th qtr to beat FIU. Terps blitzed them. With a freshman QB we will be getting better all the time. Do you go to the games, I do? Exciting football. Already purchased my tickets to travel to Virginia.

I'm pretty excited and optimistic about this team. I love watching O'Brien there under center, and think this team is going to keep getting better, too. I'm a season ticket holder again, too.
