Speaking as a Caps fan - one of the most glorious hits in the history of the world.

Jagr is pretty big dude which makes this hit even more impressive. And I'm pretty sure you would never see Crosby doing something like that.

Big dude is an understatement. 6' 3'' 242 lbs of muscle. Most impressive hit I have seen since Stevens and Lindros.

To Jagr's credit he got right back up, of course he couldn't get up quick enough to stop the goal. Gooooo Poccия!

And yet he never really threw his body around while playing in the NHL.

Skate with your head up kids!

I am honestly glad he's OK. Great hit though. It does scare me a bit that one day Ovie is going to pay for this kind of play - either from dishing it out or taking it.

Jagr is still an all-time great NHL player. Players as skilled as Jagr rarely go for the big hit.

Ovie is one of a kind.

Jagr is one of the funniest guys around.

Here is what he had to say about the hit.

Russia's Alex Ovechkin flattening Jaromir Jagr with a hit at center ice that also broke his visor. "I wish I had a concussion and just forget what happened," Jagr said. "But I remember it."

To his credit too he didn't cry about the hit.

I would have loved to have seen what Jagr could have done under Bruce Boudreau.

I never said that he wasn't. I was just saying he didn't have a physical style of play, but with his size he could have.

He definitely could have, but instead used his size advantage in the offensive zone. He still is extremely skilled at being able to use his body to keep control of the puck.

Mario Lemieux was actually even bigger than Jagr.

It used to be (prelock out) that the European players rarely used physical play in their game. Finland is starting to add that physical play and the russia stars of today (Ovie, Kovalchuk, and even Malkin) go for the big hits.

Mario and Jagr would get some hits in, but usually somewhere along the boards at center ice and almost always at the end of a shift and after they had been given the business earlier in the game (therefore not ripe for further retribution). The unwritten rulebook back then was twice as thick as the real rulebook now.

Their coach would have killed them for doing what Ovie does long before an opponent could get to them.
