So you would you guys vote for? I would have to say Ovie, Crosby, H. Sedin, and Miller are probably the 4 possibilities. Stamkos doesn't make the list because of his bad team and Marleau doesn't make it because he plays on a line with Heatley and Thornton.
I would vote for Ovechkin, Sedin, and Crosby in that order. I don't like voting for goalies especially ones that don't put up record breaking numbers.
Heck, I think Brygzalov should win the Vezina.

Sounds about right to me. I'd definitely vote Ovie #1, but I could be convinced to go Cindy ahead of Sedin.

I'd give it to any of Crosby, Ovechkin, or Sedin. It's pretty much a toss-up in my mind.
Crosby's behind in points. Ovechkin's suspensions might count against him. Sedin is way behind in goals. There's definitely no clear cut favorite this year.

I agree with this, no really easy clear-cut winner but Ovechkin probably will win it and probably should. But if he does not, the suspensions will have hurt him, missing those ten games this season, he would easily be winning in overall points as well as goals I believe. But since he did miss them, that has to be taken into consideration.

Caps are also something like 7-2 without Ovechkin. Not saying that should factor in, but it could.

Exactly. It's hard to play the "Well he did it in less games!" card when the majority of the games lost were due to suspension.

Well Crosby certainly made things interesting with that final game against the Islanders.
Needing 1 goal to catch Ovechkin and Stamkos for the Rocket, 8 points to catch Sedin for the Art Ross, or 5 to catch Ovechkin, he had a hell of a game.
Once he hit 5 points with more than half the game remaining, anyone watching the game had to think that maybe he could pull off a miracle. In the end, you could tell he was worn out in the 3rd and had to settle for points and a share of the Rocket.
It was a crazy night and it certainly won't make voting for the Hart much easier.
Whether he wins it or not, it really is insane to see the difference between Crosby this year and last. It wasn't long ago that he was considered a great passer with a decent shot, couldn't win faceoffs and was awful in the shootout. This year: 51 goals, 8/10 in the shootout, 11th in faceoffs at 55.9%. When you're already in the discussion for the best player in the game, having the drive to make improvements like that is incredible.

Crosby had a terrific year. I still would love to see him paired with a pure sniper capable of 40 goals, to see his true offensive potential. It could be scary numbers wise.

Crosby was 4th in Pts/Game. Guess who was 1st by a large margin

If Ovie played the full 82 game slate and you used his 1.51 pts/game rate, he would have scored 12 more pts than Sedin and 15 more pts and 5 more goals than Crosby.

In addition to my point above about the Caps playing well without Ovechkin, a few other arguments that could work against him include
i) He isn't helping his team by getting suspended for 4-5 games per year
ii) His linemates are about 1,000x more talented than the guys Crosby played with this year. Dupuis stepped his game up, but is certainly not a top line player. Kunitz was hurt part of the year so didn't play a ton with Crosby, and isn't too good in the first place. Guerin was one of the worst players on the Pens this year, despite his numbers. I don't think it would be tough to assume that if Crosby played with Backstrom and Knuble, his PPG would've been higher.
To be honest, I think this thing will be a crapshoot. I doubt a goalie will win, so I think its a tossup between Crosby, Sedin and Oveckin.

You never know, you can't always say if a player played with "X" and "Y" his goal scoring and point total will go up.
I thought Dany Heatley would score 55 goals playing with Joe Thornton but he didn't. But at the same time, HE DIDN'T HAVE TOO" their line combined for well over 100 goals. If Crosby played with Backstrom and Knuble, who knows maybe his goal scoring would of gone down due to the score of games etc, etc.....
See what I mean? I mean Marian Hossa played with Datsyuk and Johan Franzen and he only got 40 goals. I thought for sure he would of scored 50 at minimum.
Crosby had to shoot more and pick up the scoring more this year because of the injuries that plagued the Penguins this year. If Malkin and Gonchar would of stayed healthy the whole year, Crosby wouldn't of had to play 110% to pick up the slack and win games.
Does this make any sense?

Like I said before, it's hard to play the what if game when the majority of Ovechkin's missed games were due to suspension. Any credit he could get for the higher PPG will likely be lost because he took himself out of those games.

Of course it's just a guessing game, but I could easily see Crosby scoring more points with better linemates. Pascal Dupuis and a 39 year old Bill Guerin doesn't offer much by way of a scoring touch. Less goals and more assists maybe, but probably more points.

Correct. To think Sid would've had less points with Backstrom and Knuble is nonsensical. I do agree he may have had less goals.

Ovie missed 6 games with a shoulder injury.
