I have a question for anyone who knows wood. My pool cue (the butt) is almost 25 years old. Is inlaid with other wood and plastic pieces. It's showing some cracks. Sorry I don't know what kind of wood it is, a hardwood I would guess, ash or maple.

Anyways, what kind of oil or other product can I use to help it? And should I wipe it with the oil, submerge it? Thanks.

Cracks in finished wood are pretty hard to fix, Scott. Vertical or Diagonal cracks, your best bet is to try to pry it open as far as you can, without breaking the stick, or making the crack larger. Spread some wood glue into the crack with a small brush, and then use clamps to cinch it until its completely dry. Wipe it down after you clamp it, so the glue that rises to the top of the crack doesnt leave an edge, smooth it right out.

They're not big cracks, just little separations. I thought maybe some kind of oil or moisture would help it. I saw them do it on Pawn Stars with an old banjo. I just don't know what to use.
