    • Gunnar was bad but it was mainly because he was too passive. He often would watch a strike or two and then try to hit.  That isn’t what is going on here. Admittedly Holliday seems to get a lot of tough pitches but he also seems to basically miss them off
    • His FIP was a 5.24 and his xFIP was 5.91. I guess it wasn’t terrible but it wasn’t good. To me the largest concern was 3.80 K/9. I just don’t know how a pitcher can succeed in today’s game missing that few bats. However, I’m not pouring dirt on him, and don’t think any definitive conclusions can be drawn at this point, particularly because it is spring training for him. That being said, I have not had a lot of confidence in his ability to help this season because his recovery from TJS has seemed challenging. I hope I’m wrong.
    • It’s possible but not sure why they are pitching him if he’s not.
    • True but it’s one thing when you foul a few off and then strikeout.  He is often not even fouling off balls.
    • I wish Means was throwing well, but I think we look back more fondly on him because he was the best pitcher we had on a terrible team. Even in his best seasons his FIP was mid 4's.  He never really walked people and has a career 7.5K/9 and 1.7HR/9. He was our Ace on a terrible team, but he was never a top pitcher by the numbers.
