    • This is how statcast classifies his pitching repertoire. It seems he has gone from a slider to a cutter this year. Much less horizontal drop. Not sure why since his slider was very effective last year. Both his fastball and cutter have been hit a bit this year when you look at XWOBA.
    • Well, I agree with that.   But it doesn’t really matter who any of the fans are counting on.
    • That rings a bell.
    • He brought up what happened in 2019.  No 2021 was fine. But even that was a long time ago. I’m not saying that Means can never become an effective starter again. I have no idea what will happen in the future as I do not own a crystal ball or posses any prescient/predictive ability. But what I am saying is that at this point, given all the injuries and his current ineffectiveness, it would be best not to count on Means being the old Means for the rest of 2024.  If it happens at some point this year, great. But I don’t think it would be wise to expect/anticipate that.
    • Well, last year he had both a cutter and a slider.  In the first two months, he was having trouble commanding the slider and was using the cutter way too much.  When he returned, he’d almost completely ditched the cutter and had regained command of the slider.   So he’s definitely got a slider.
