1. Haven't I read several times on this board that Mesa's ceiling is Craig Genty? So he has the potential to one day be a light hitting mediocre backup role player? I don't get the enthusiasm.
2. Given their bone structure, I'll bet a Neanderthal could hit a baseball pretty far. Wouldn't be much of a baserunner though.
3. Nope. Those 14 years were anything but "quick".
4. It might just be wishful thinking on my part, but his batting stance reminds me of Albert Belle.
5. Where to begin. First off, this it the first time that I have ever commented on this subject. Ever. So why you chose to single me out and, to boot, attach your own meanings to my words is beyond me. To me, Cal's comment about who is a better 3B means little and neither angered nor surprised me. Secondly, my comment was an observation, not an personal expression. I thought that was obvious. In case you haven't noticed, there are fans who are still upset about what he said and I think it's fair to say that he has alienated them. When any public figure makes a statement that alienates much of his fan base, he has embarrassed himself whether or not some agree. Third, Cal himself has said that his comments were an attempt to sound impartial, and not an opinion. Fourth, I couldn't give a rat's ass how old you are.
6. They are certainly trending in that direction. However, those usually are very high paying two-year contracts. Two years with J&J will look pretty nice on your resume.
7. I wonder if Cal is aware of how badly he embarrassed himself or of just how many of his long term fans he alienated with his "sorry Brooksie" shtick? For some reason, I don't think he does.
8. I too am a chemist, although not an engineer. I worked in the automotive chemicals business for years when the company suddenly moved to China. Yipee . Two years of crap job hopping through plastics and pharmaceuticals and I finally landed a great job with J&J. Opportunity will knock, it's only a matter of time.
9. If one hangs their dress shirts with their casual shirts, it makes it more difficult to find the shirt one is looking for. There is a lot to be said for organization and structure, but when it impedes ease of access people will seek improvement.
10. Yep, you got it. Nick is just one foot dragging step away from ringing the bell at Notre Dame de Paris.
11.

Thanks for the note Gary! All's well here as I approach birthday n?mero setenta. Planning a trip to OR And WA and then over to Banff and down to Glacier after Labor Day. How's ur love and working life?

12. Before this thread degenerates into a pissing contest (too late?) I'd like to say that last year must have been profoundly exciting for the players, while this year contains an element of meeting expectations. Define pressure how you will. That said; I'm with Corny in putting it on par with the weather.
