  1. I tried to start a thread on a possible injury to a big Oriole prospect, what happened?

    Diaz injury?

Hoping for the best, but today at minor league camp, Diaz was hit on the foot and struggled getting off the field. It would really stink if he ends going on the IL or DL whatever they're calling it these days to start the year. McKenna was also hit on the foot prior to Diaz, a lefty throwing down and in sliders, but he seemed fine. McKenna did homer to the opposite field, that was nice to see.

    Zoellner

For all of you Zoellner fans, today in a minor league game he hit 2HRs. One off of Joe Ryan a Tampa pitcher who before Zoellner had struck out 8 of 9, just saying
  4. I don't think Nunez is a lock to start at 3rd. Ruiz is having a very nice spring
  5. Could be, but extremely different circumstances. Last year they were hopelessly thinking they were contenders. This year they're in a total rebuild from the front office to the field and have changed the whole organizational philosophy, for me in a very positive way. So, I'd say enjoy the new found optimism and enjoy the process of new, younger players, or check in a couple of years, when we start contending for the post season
  6. Looks to me that you're making way too much of it, who cares how it got out. It's not a big deal, he wanted to show some class with all the others in the running, no big deal
  7. I thought the ball difference was a factor. Everything he threw was in the upper half of the zone and with his skill set he will get destroyed pitching above or near the belt. I wasn't overly impressed with his stuff, but I would be willing to give him a couple more chances to see if it was nerves or the baseball
  8. I saw Yelin Rodriguez's outing yesterday and definitely saw some potential. He has 2 plus pitches , in my opinion, his changeup and curve. He does most of his damage with the off speed stuff, gets a lot of very ugly swings with the curve ball and uses his fastball which topped out at 91 to keep hitters honest. He will need to have very good command with the fastball, but at his age of 19. he does turn 20 later in the year, he could add a tick or 2. He seemed to have a good understanding of pitching and works quickly. He'll be worth watching as he gets into the higher levels. but there might be another Rodriguez for the O's fans to be aware of
  9. If you were wondering if it was a slow gun, I don't think it was. That speed was what I thought it could be with the naked eye, definitely not overpowering
  10. Was there today, Rodriguez only pitched the first 2 innings. Stauffer came in for the 3rd, so boxscore is inaccurate. The one radar gun I saw, he was right at 89. Definitely, not letting it loose today. Did show nice secondary pitches and very nice presence on the mound, just not very high on the velo
  11. His arm is more of a dexterity thing, than a strength issue. I've seen him play multiple times and his throws are the worst I've seen from any left side of the infield prospect. He just doesn't have the dexterity, IMHO, to be able to succeed at any infield position other than first base. It's just how it is, unfortunately
  12. They might not get to 30 this year 😥😩😫
  13. Hopefully, saw the 2 error game, can't blame the conditions on those errors.
  14. Bill O'donnell together with Thompson absolutely classic
  15. Pretty good list, but I think Santander's back in school
  16. Do we know about his contact, maybe hitting into some loud outs. I don't know for sure, but unless you've actually seen him over matched, nothing to see here
  17. Great job, quick and convenient way to look at top prospects
  18. They're 8-21, so what they might fall to 6-23. Time to bust this team up, ASAP
  19. It's embarrassing for the Orioles organization to continue to put that kind of product on the field. He doesn't belong in the majors, so release him and move on
  20. It's a total disgrace to everything Orioles, continuing to give Tillman major league starts. It doesn't matter how much you care for the guy, this is a business, do the right thing. I'm sure the players feel the same way, but can't say anything out of courtesy to Tillman
  21. The problem I see with Cortes right now, is he's really struggling with right handed hitters. The game I saw righty's all had good AB's against him. I agree with Tony, I believe he will start as a lefty specialist out of the pen. Maybe, he needs more time to adjust to the higher level, but I can't see him being the #5 the way he's struggling right now
  22. Got to agree here, he has no go to pitch. When he's in trouble nothing he can rely to finish off major league hitters
