  1. And we're still ahead of the Yankees and Red Sox in the standings. In year one of the rebuild, I'm not too concerned with our record, but it would be great to be looking down at them as long as we can. 😁
  2. I'll go with an 8 in my confidence that he will be above average.
  3. I think it's so cool that you still appreciate them this much after knowing them all those years. Like, I'm sure you aren't geeking out in front of them, but it sounds like despite the personal relationship, you are still able to appreciate them as a fan.
  4. I went with a friend a couple seasons ago. We stayed at some shady motel near the airport, but took an Uber to downtown Sarasota one evening. I wish I had names of places we went to, but there were a bunch of bars and restaurants. It was a really nice downtown scene. There are some really nice beaches, which we didn't have time to see. I believe Siesta Key is supposed to be the most noteworthy, but I could be wrong. I'm sorry for my lack of details, but my point is that there is plenty to do and you'll have a great time! I hope to make it back one day.
  5. My bad. I thought you meant something like "you get 3 shifts per game". I'm very conflicted on this topic. I personally don't like the shift, but it does allow another strategic element, so I can see the argument for it. I could get behind some limitation.
  6. I don't like the shift. I think it's cheap, but I think they should decide between allowing it or banning it. I think limiting is kinda dumb.
  7. I think you're onto something!
  8. What if we wake up one day to find out we've signed Wieters, Markakis, Jones, Schoop, Britton and Machado? To be clear, I'm not advocating for this, or even saying it's possible. It would just be a bizarre turn of events to say the least.
  9. Haha. Yeah, it's amazing how broad the description can be for developers. I would bet that if someone knows all these programming languages, their HTML and CSS doesn't look pretty. I'm sure they can write it, but presentation and accessibility is another story. This would be my dream job, but I'm on the Front-End and not quite up to speed on all of those languages.
  10. Is that the Hawk? He looks like a linebacker. Yeah, those shorts look like what my gym teachers wore in the 90s.
  11. I also hate the Red Sox even more than the Yankees now. I think it's mainly because of the fans. I attended a game in August and they were so obnoxious. I remember them being obnoxious before we snapped our losing season streak, but it seems worse now. The worst part was they were yelling a Rick Flair-like "Woooo!!" every 10 seconds or so. This must have gone on for hours. It was almost like the wave. One person would do it, then someone else would do it a few seconds later and it came back around. Has anyone witnessed this? I totally understand rooting for your team, even in an visiting park, but this was a special level of ignorance and being inconsiderate.
  12. Neither does Mark Zuckerberg. You never know!
  13. What a wonderful and warm human being. I wish I would have been alive to witness the Brooks era and all those great Orioles teams. Thank god for YouTube.
  14. The potential reality of the OP is really quite depressing, but I've come to terms with it. I really don't care anymore. Afterall, "If you're not first you're last." I'll be interested again if we make smart trades, even if that doesn't translate to wins right away.
  15. Good point, Roy. As passionate as we sports fans can be, there are other things in life that are more important.
  16. This is so awesome. Nick has never been a superstar, but a very solid and consistent player. I had always hoped he would make the All-Star game at least once. Well deserved, indeed.
  17. Exactly. That's one of the main reasons why I always root for the O's to win. You play the game to win. That being said, I support trading vets and playing as many youngsters as possible as long as they aren't brought up too soon, but I never want us to lose for the sake of a marginally higher pick, especially since it looks like we'll have a high pick no matter what.
  18. I totally agree with this. There have been a lot of strong opinions formed based on assumptions.
  19. That's actually a really good idea. I can see how that would be a great training exercise. I'm playing in a baseball league this year for the first time in 20 years, (although I have played softball here and there.) so I'll be sure to keep an eye on this thread.
  20. I agree. We'd have to absorb some salary. At that point I don't know if it would even be worth it for us.
  21. I think I'd settle for no value just to get rid of them and not have to eat the rest of the contract.
  22. I'm fine with it, too. In fact, I have two Dugout Clubbers(8 and 6) and I welcome it.
