1. Not a chance this happens. Montanez might hit for average but I'd be beyond surprised if he sniffs .800 as a full-time DH.
2. Patton is far from elite. He doesn't have the stuff to be a 1, 2, or 3, and he probably ranks as the 10th best pitching prospects (including the rookie pitchers) in this organization. Whats the difference though. People act like Hardy is a savior, he hasn't hit over the last couple seasons.
3.

New to the hangout but had something to offer my fellow fans. I've been sittin on a set of 5 pictures for close to 15 years now of Cal swingin and hittin the homerun in the 2131 game. I also have the mound conference to authenticate the set with the pitcher Mark Langston of the Cali Angels. This is a beautiful set and if anyone is interested out there and I'd be glad to email copies. I don't know if I'm able to post my cell number but I'll try. My name is Terry. Call anytime and maybe we can make a trade or come up with a fair exchange. I currently live in VA now. Give me a call at 757-687-9818 or email me at cboehustler@yahoo.com. I'd be glad to hear from ya. Take care

4. The top offensive college prospect, at this point, in the draft is Bryce Brentz out of Middle Tennessee State. Last year .465/.541/.930. Too bad he's in the OF. No real top of the line 1b prospects have been identified for the 2010 draft, unless you'd want to convert Yasmani Grandal, out of Miami, to 1b from C.
5. I have a feeling that since he's missed so much time to injury Erbe will start next year at Bowie and have a mid year promotion to AAA. Arrieta will be the next to have a shot at the rotation, and I suspect he'll start next year in AAA in get a promotion to the big show in May.
6. Didn't we say the same about Hayden Penn in 2005?
7. He's going strong tonight. 3ip 2h 0r 1bb 2k 7-0 GB-FO
8. I'm rather disappointed the O's haven't signed any international FA's especially since it appears they drafted more so for signability instead of projectability. Where is all the money going? Well I guess we all know where...
9. I found that 100% of the time the 'inside' information never perpetuated to anything and was just an embellishment of what Roch posted on his blog at the Sun. For instance the Tejada trade was completely out of no where (where were the insiders on that one), and didn't we hear about the Bedard trade from the USS Mariner from someone who worked at the airport? I'm glad we don't have 'inside' posters any longer. They were useless and just got everyone's panties in a twist.
10. Dude, before you fly off the handle, at least get your facts straight. Holliday is 29 not 27, which is a big difference, and he is in the last year of his contract. Also, there is nothing great about a .795 season, period. Further, count with me the number of gold gloves Holliday's received during his career....yeah, thats right, none. I know GG voting is subjective, but the fact that he hasn't won once shows me there is nothing probable about the notion he's the best defensive LF in all of baseball. Holliday is a complete fraud, he's completely been exposed out of Colorado. Based on current production and contract situation Luke Scott is easily more desirable between the two players.
11. I'm pretty sure you can add Billy Rowell to that list, at 6'5'' 215....oh wait...
12. Is it safe to say this is the worst day of the season for the O's pitching prospects? Erbe got injured, Arietta got beat up on, and Matusz and Tillman both had sub-par showings at the All-Star game.
13. Over the last several years the O's have had some certified lights-out prospects. Weiters, Matusz, Tillman, Arietta. When they all graduate I don't see the potential for a top 10 prospect. Hobgood might develop into one, but that will be a few years down the road. Britton will probably top out in the 40's and I don't see Erbe, Spoone, Joseph, Welty Avery, Bundy being top 75 prospects. In the baseball prospect prognostications one of the keys for having a good system is top-shelf talent who is at a reasonably advanced level. The O's just don't have it after the big 3. Even if they sign Sano I doubt he is top 25 until a year or two in the system. I predict the team will drop to the high to mid 20's after the big three graduate.
14. Tillman's going tonight and let's hope he doesn't pull an Arietta. So far so good: 4ip 4h 0r 0er 0bb 3k 60pitches
