Wade Miller came from a small school same town. Rooting for the local Berks product!!
  2. Always the potential that somebody doesn’t pass a physical. Thus another reason for a backup plan.
  3. Until they pass "the physical" and the Orioles release that they are signed, I am hesitant to believe it is done. Still gunshy from previous failed physicals. Nice to se some of the HS players have signed, granted just a few and the less $ guys. Maybe this is the year we get 1-2 more of the harder to sign players.
  4. So per the article: we have not signed picks: 1, 2, 4, 5, 16, 17, 19, 24, 26, 35, 37, 38, 39, & 40. Off to a good start, but still a lot of talent to bring to the table. Interested in finding out the $. But will probably have to wait until the end to help with negotiations. Unless the players individually release their signing amounts.
  5. I am bumping this thread because of Havey's surgery. Might answer some questions everybody has. If you have any questions please ask and I'll try to answer them.
  6. Tony, thought you did a great job and answered the questions like an expert. Only suggestion may be is to answer some questions that are common questions on the site that maybe people didn't get a chance to put in themselves now but are constantly being asked. You could do that in the future by going through and just pick out those common ones and answer them directly. Other Than that, I thought it was great.
  7. The idea that GIRD (Glenohumeral Internal Rotational Deficit) is a major cause of pain and issues in the shoulders and elbows of pitchers is debated in this attached podcast. The concept of GIRD being the major issue for injuries in throwers was popular in the early 2000s. However, it is now the belief based on research that an overall loss of combined internal and external rotation and muscular tightness that is limiting shoulder elevation (taking your hand toward the ceiling) are the culprits leading to injuries. One of the major thoughts to prevention is to take baseline measurements prior to the season of throwing and monitoring them as the season progresses. If significant motion is lost after any throwing session, then a program to regain normal motion should be initiated. This podcast does not have any Orioles or pitchers in it as the last one I posted (Recovery from Tommy John Surgery), but for those who work with pitchers at any level or have an interest in the health of pitchers it should be of interest. Enjoy and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I will answer as best as I can. Mike Reinold's Podcast: On this episode of the #AskMikeReinold show we have a questions related to baseball injuries and glenohumeral internal rotation deficit, or GIRD. http://www.mikereinold.com/baseball-shoulder-injuries-gird/
  8. To be honest with you I didn't know where to post this presentation. It is given by Mike Reinold (formally the Red Sox's PT) and Lenny Macrina. Both are owners of Champion Physical Therapy and Performance in Boston. They both trained under Kevin Wilk for Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham. The podcast is 45 minutes long and deals with the recovery, signs, and some thoughts to causes of Tommy John Injury and Surgery. What is neat and relevant to the Orioles is that it features 2 minor league players from the Orioles. Jamill Moquete an OF and Dennis Torres, P. Moquete at time of the presentation was 2 months in recovery and Torres was 5 weeks in recovery from Tommy John repair. Also featured is KC pitcher Tim Collins who is undergoing his second surgery. If you are a pitcher, know a pitcher, are a coach, know a coach, etc. this is a great presentation to watch about the warning signs and current thought processes from 2 of the top pitching therapists in the country. I have learned a lot from them and I think this presentation is great and easy to understand. Plus you get to hear from 2 Orioles. If you have any questions, please ask and I will try my best to clarify any questions. Mike also has some podcasts about long toss and weighted ball programs. There appears to be growing statistics that incorrect long toss and weighted ball programs are causing an ever increasing injury rate especially with younger players. 9. July 15th is fast approaching. So happy the moved up the deadline date for signing. I am guessing only Bonilla is not held to this date as he cannot go back to college, correct?
  10. This is my thought immediately. Surprise nobody else has really comment on this. Wasn't part of the agents negotiation with Davis this year that he can play in the outfield. I think you're much better off putting him out in the outfield and Mancini at first. However, Davis has saved a lot of runs and Errors of our infielders by playing close to gold glove caliber first base. That can't be understated.
  11. If I remember correctly 100k is the max per player after round 10. Anything over 100K goes toward your over slot limit.
  12. Thanks for the summary and all the hard work today. Do any of these guys profile as a latex salesman?
  13. Lat strain is a shoulder problem, but way below rotator cuff an labrum. Still important, but rest and PT should help. It is a muscle that is often forgotten about when dealing with shoulder tightness and loss of motion.
  14. I know he is not young and a Cuban, but doesn't Miranda belong in the top 10?

    Go Gunkel!

He had the same issue the MLB team is having this year. A lot of 0-2 and 1-2 hits. He sat at 89-92 most of the night. Was efficient. Some nice plays by the infield helped. Strike zone was erratic all night for both teams. Kendall got tossed after two blown calls on the field. A lot of arguing from all players with the strike zone tonight.
