1 Million in slot money. That’s not a lot.

I don’t know how we all of a sudden value a number 22 prospect (and slot money in a weaker system) as the #3 prospect, but ok live in dream land. Probably Gonsolin, Sborz, C Santana is probably superior to what the Mess got.

And international slot money. So that would be like Tony Gonsolin and a couple of throw ins from the Dodgers for a rental closer. http://dodgersdigest.com/2018/07/21/2018-dodgers-prospects-revised-midseason-top-30/

I agree, the Buehler talk is silly and just as a point of clarification, he wasn’t demoted for a real reason. The Dodgers FO optioned him because if they kept him down for 10 days he wouldn’t be a free agent for another year. It got quite the negative backlash in the LA blogosphere. As to your proposal, 3 years of Hand and 5 of Cimber got Mejia, with a growing consensus that he won’t stick at C (if you read fangraphs and others). What makes you think .5 of Britton would get anything more than a “gee, you’re funny” from the LAD? If I’m LAD I target Iglesias, Vazquez, Barraclough/Conley, Pressley in that order. All before I’d ever target Britton

No international slot money as was rumored, so it’s now available in trade with another team

Is it Chapman++? No Is it a fair trade and good for both sides? Yes. From the Dodger side I’m glad No Verdugo, No May, No Lux, No Furgeson, No Ruiz. Not even Alvarez.

I posted the Dodgerdigest top 30 a few days ago. The server is down at the minute but I think Bannon came up highest (other than Diaz) at #20 if memory serves.

Pop is a name that hasn’t come up at all in these discussions. I’ll say on a lot of Dodger blogs he was looked at as a bullpen stalwart. That’s not to discount him. I know how excited the draft experts were to get him.

Duarte, same guy who said May was part of deal just retweeted the official club reporter as saying May will not be scratched. Duarte also called Braun for Kemp. So believe him at your peril

Even a broken clock is right twice a day (re Balfour). It’s been well covered that the O’s use medicals as a last round of negotiations. It’s a bad form. I hope the deal doesn’t get done just on principle. We’ll see where this goes.

Let’s all be honest here. O’s don’t have a real deal in place they just wanted to deficate on the Nationals spotlight.

I don’t necessarily agree on this last point. The Dodgers have shown a proclivity to signing guys they trade for under Friedman. The FO re-signed Hill. By all reports they tried for Darvish. The problem with Machado in this case is his desire to play nowhere but short when he has a say in the off-season. The Dodgers have probably a short stop just as talented in Seager. Neither really are super plus’s at short. Ok, so move Seager to 3rd? Well, that means you take away Turner from 3rd. Turner to First? Ok, but that means you move Bellinger, a ++ defensive first baseman to CF, where he’s adequate. You en up sacrificing defense in 2 situations and mess up better natural positions to accommodate Manny. So I see him as strictly a rental. The only way I could see Manny without all the flipping is if Seager moves to 2nd with Muncy moving to the OF. But then you have two statues (Seager, Manny) up the middle.

Even as the local Dodger fan on here (I feel like I have to repeat it because this thread is so fast moving), I would be ok if the final deal is Diaz, Lux, and 3 of the depth guys we discussed. I wouldn’t like it but I would be ok. Lux is seemingly putting it all together. But for those asking, Lux and May aren’t interchangeable to me. Pitchers will always grade out higher.
