Uh, no.   But he's pretty darned good.

He's already two years behind so all he has to do is play until he is 46.

Last year of Jayson Werth being there.

Werth's contract hasn't been a good value, but it also hasn't been quite the disaster many predicted. Still, they'll be happy to get that money off the books.

How much of that $ goes to extending Harper is my question

Where would it go to then?

Turner extension?  Lerner's checkbook?

I don't know, but I don't think think they extend Harper.

Depends on how much he wants. Lerner and Boras are buddies, so keep that in mind.

He's played 6 years, has a .795 OPS (116 OPS+), and has averaged 16 homers and 61 RBI per season.    He's missed 234 games.    He'll make $21 mm this year.     While it's not the worst deal ever made (by a long shot), he's only been worth 9.6 rWAR for the $105 mm he's been paid so far.    He's provided some leadership there, and they've won their division three times, so I guess it's not all bad.    But it's a good thing that this is the last year of the deal.

Nats sign Joe Blanton to a 1 year, $4 million contract.

Could spell trouble for our buddy Vance Worley's chances of making the team.

Vance was one of 3 ex-Orioles I saw play Sunday in Fort Myers for the Nats vs the Twins.   The others?   Corban Joseph and Brandon Snyder.   Had no idea Snyder was still playing.

Good signing for DC. Their lack of bullpen additions to this point of the offseason was surprising. With Lind, Wieters, and Blanton they've done a Duquette-esque job of plugging holes late.

There's probably four teams you can peg as the consensus World Series favorites leading up to the season (Red Sox, Dodgers, Cubs, Nationals). Of those four, I'd prefer Washington by far.
