I agree.

With Joseph: 74.2 IP, 26 ER (3.13 ERA)

With Castillo: 69.2 IP, 58 ER (7.49 ERA)

I wonder if there was a health-related reason last night.    When they posted the lineup on the scoreboard last night, at first it said Joseph was catching.  (See also the "ongoing lineup thread.")   Then as the PA announcer read out the lineup, they changed it to Castillo.

I assumed that was just a screw up by the video guys.

They did change the lineup Frobby. Castillo was added late. Not sure why yet.

Because he was healthy enough to play.

Well that is a good reason.

I know how bad Gausman  has been with Castillo. That said Gausman was bad last night.

I saw on TV on Wall to Wall Baseball yesterday, Roch said they want Sisco to be here next year.

I said in the game thread last night that it strikes me as odd that Buck looks at hitter/pitcher matchups but doesn't appear to value pitcher/catcher data in the same way.

I'm not one to put much value in those types of stats but Gausman's splits are pronounced.

Yes they are. Maybe he didn't want Tillman with Castillo.  Of course Tillman had been awful this year with any catcher except for a couple of starts with Pena.

Yeah, he certainly must have a better relationship with Caleb, but I agree with eddie.  It wouldn't have mattered who was catching him last night.  He was missing his target by two feet.  You can't blame your catcher when he is set up low and away outside and you hang one middle in.

His slider is useless but he's still effective, if he can get a decent breaking ball he'll be special... but that breaking ball has been missing since LSU.

Damn you Kevin Gausman.

He's got to learn how to pitch the Yankees if he wants to take the next step.  He gets 3-4 starts against them every year.

Last year, Gausman had a 1.10 ERA against the Yankees in six starts.    This year, they've owned him (9.27 ERA in 5 starts).   Go figure.

He must be tipping his pitches.  The Yanks are using the YES Network to figure him out.  ;)
