Machado Trade Expectations

Machado Trade Expectations

  1. 1. Regarding the return we receive, what are your expectations of whatever Machado trade takes place?

    • The return will be outstanding.
    • The return will be solid.
    • The return will be merely decent.
    • The return will be poor.
    • The return will be just terrible.
    • I expect we will not trade him at all, getting only a compensation pick in next year's draft.

Kinda TBD, but he seems like he showed surprising athleticism/range in the OF and seems to be working on his craft and is just OK at 1B so far. Bat is definitely his calling card, but hopefully he can develop his defense a little more as time goes on.

MLB.com says he has 20 speed.  Kinda hard to play OF with that speed

If you do have the ability to sign Manny long term wouldn't the smart thing be to trade him then bring him back in a few months as a free agent?

MLB.com also said he did surprisingly ok out there in their report of him. So one or the other must by very wrong.

Torrey Smith's a nice guy, but he's really an idiot. Hindsight's 20/20 Torrey. Thank god the Raven's didn't resign you.

It was more our ex sideline reporter talking about Orioles decisions and logic

Sure like the sound of this. Even with the "doesn't have much of a game plan" part.

With strength and solid bat speed, the left-handed-hitting Rios creates power to all fields that plays against both lefties and righties. Though he's very aggressive and doesn't have much of a game plan at the plate, his hand-eye coordination allows him to make consistent hard contact. He may never walk much, but he can hit for power and average.

Rios pinch hit in that game.

So maybe no Rios...

Wouldn't have been involved at all if he was in a package, imo.

Sorry if anyone has mentioned this already. The Orioles should be playing the NL West next year. In 16 we played the Dodgers in LA. Good chance Manny plays a  series in Baltimore next year.

Yep.

Plus, the  Dodger financial situation is their own business and should be independent of the prospect price as long as there are other sharks in the pool. Unless, of course, we offer the Dodgers some sub prime financing. Always be closing!

No its not really .... The Dodgers need financial help to afford Manny and Britton an stay under the luxury tax. What that should mean for the Orioles? It means getting a better return for taking Forsythe back with his 4.5 million in salary. Or sending a portion of Zack or Manny's remaining salary. In return you get better value prospects or an extra player or two. its pretty simple IMO

Assuming he means Edwin Rios

Rios looks like a nice prospect ...but they have his speed at 20 yikes!

Maybe he goes to LAD and we bring him back to hit his 500th HR

It just occurred to me that if Manny goes to the LAD, that will mean we traded Frank Robinson, Eddie Murray, and Manny Machado all to the Dodgers.

So Diaz, Dustin May, Drew Jackson, Dean Kremer, and Logan Forsythe is not correct?
