Tony Clark Keeping His Eye on the Orioles

You know they changed them right?  Different filling and they don't fry them anymore.

Ah, the snob of the board showing his true colors.  Proving my theory right...there are two types of people, those who like McDonald's and those who lie about not liking it.

I was just trying to look out for you so you didn't end up with a bunch of baked disappointment.

Tony Clark's batting average for the last seven years of his career was .226...I don't think he's very good at keeping his eye on anything.

Could probably still hit for a better average than Davis. 😕

Perhaps Clark will offer a rebate for the Davis deal.

A million dollars back for every point Davis’ batting average is below his body weight.

That would explain why Davis looks so much thinner this spring.

If such a clause actually existed in Davis contract he would look like this come regular season.

Tony Clark can bleep right off.  He should go keep an eye on the Marlins if he wants to look at a crappy example of a team that tanks.  We had one of the higher payrolls in MLB for the last few seasons....if anything, we delayed rebuilding to the team's detriment in 2017 and 2018.

I can't even begin to describe how much those quotes and articles ticked me off.

Also the Orioles overpaid players in some instances and bidding against themselves.

After reading Tony Clark's Wikipedia page I'm getting some SERIOUS Brady Anderson vibes. He didn't finish college (his predecessor had a law degree) and he's the first former MLB player the Association has elected. It'll be interesting to see what they do when he's up for reelection in 2022.

Not sure what you mean.

The MLBPA has collectively bargained:

  1. Draft slots
  2. No ML contracts for draftees
  3. International sloting

All three of those hurt non-union members.

How much do you think Rutschman would get under the old system?  He'd pretty much be a lock for a ML contract as well right?

Diaz got 15.5M how much did VVM get?

My remark had to do with your comment that the public doesn’t know all that history.    All that information is out there in public.   That’s how you know about it.    So why do you say the public doesn’t know?    The public knows, but it doesn’t really care.

I don't want to derail the thread, and, no offense to your wife of course, but even if she was Dr. House I wouldn't want to be seen by someone who'd been working 36 hour shifts.  That is lunacy.  Did that include sleep?  It had to, right?

It depends on how busy the unit was.  Sometimes, they weren't able to sleep at all, and when they did sleep, it was only for a couple hours.  They've since changed the rules and put a limit on the hours.

Where were Tony Clarks eyes when we signed Chris Davis. He should have stepped in and said this will be a bad contract and we could use that money better in 2018-2019 to have a better team.

He represents the "Players" Association not the Owners Association.

I know he does. I  expressed it poorly. IF we had spend less on Chris when we signed him (in years and money), we would have more money to spend now on players.

    • Andrew Luck was dealing with chronic pain.  Chris Davis is injured and Luck is leaving zero guaranteed money on the table. NFL contracts are not guaranteed.
    • I was thinking about this today. How Chris's image would improve if he retired with a buyout agreement favorable to both parties.  Otherwise the general feeling of most people is he is stealing money from the Orioles who have made him a multi-millionaire. Hopefully his wife can get through to him and suggest at the end of the season he retire. I know this is unlikely with Scott Boras as his agent. Maybe Chris can explain to him his frustration with the game and his declining batting skills have caused him to make this decision.
    • This guy is on fire.....I'm wondering if the guys that said he'd be Nontendered this offseason are ready to eat crow?? C'mon gents, we know who you are!
    • I thought I read something about 80 million from MASN a while back. Even with Davis, Cobb, and Trumbo contracts the Os are making a pretty hefty profit just on the national and MASN deals.   So even if the number 0nly 110-120 million in revenue between the 2 deals ...the payroll is only 72 million and certain to ge less next year. A 40 million surplus times 2
    • When I lived in L.A. and often went down the block to Mexican taco and burrito vans for dinner, cabeza was one of my favorites.
    • I was at the Shorebirds vs my hometown Hagerstown Suns where 3,106 showed up for a Low A baseball doubleheader featuring a Mike Mussina bobble head for the first 1,000 fans (unfortunately I was in the 2,106 who didn’t get one).  Of course game one also had Grayson Rodriquez pitching to Adley Rutchman.  I will stick to attendance in this thread and say that the orange and black dominated the crowd in this Nationals affiliate’s park.   Not sure how long the rebuild will take but there is definitely some excitement for the future out here in the hinterlands.
