Adam Hall at 2nd, Cadyn Greiner at Short for Opening Night

Recommended Posts

Had three hits tonight, Rodriguez is a beast right now. Like I said this is the team and players I am watching this year. 6-1 now this season.

Hall is up to .321 .853. Neustrom is a kind of under the radar guy and he's OPSing 1.027. Hopefully he can end up being a Trey Mancini type success story. But the pitching has really been great.

They won again and in insane circumstances with a walk off Grand Slam. Well done, I like teams that hate losing. Good group of players.

Last year the Shorebirds got off to an amazing start as well.    Then Baumann and Lowther got promoted in late May and they were just a so-so team after that.   So we’ll see if guys like Rodriguez and Knight and maybe Hall stick around.

I thought Grenier was the one that was going to get called up?  😉

Well, it’s too early to say that couldn’t happen*.   .744 OPS in 8 games even though his BA is only .233.     One good day and he could be over .800 OPS at this early stage.    But I definitely consider Hall to be a much better prospect than Grenier.

*I just realized you meant called up to the majors, not Frederick.   Yeah, that is not happening in 2019.

No, I meant Frederick.

Remember I'm really down on Grenier.

It would be an interesting development if the 20 year old Hall gets promoted before the 22 year old Grenier.

I think there’s a reasonable chance that happens.     Of course, the O’s may feel compelled to move Grenier faster due to his age.

One can knock the O’s for choosing Grenier at 37, but by the same token, Hall at 60 (in 2017) is really looking like a good pick in that spot.    There’s only two drafted players in the Sally League who have a higher OPS and are the same age or younger than Hall:

Jonathan Omelas, 2018 3rd rounder, .988 OPS (born 5/26/2000).

Chris Seise, 2017 1st rounder, .890 OPS (born 1/6/99).

(Both, by the way, drafted by the Rangers.)

Hall was born 5/22/99 and has an .887 OPS.

Needless to say, we’re talking about 8 games here.    But Hall was just incredibly hot the last month or so of last season, and it seems to be carrying over.

Neustrom = Ball Player.

I'd like to hear a little more about his defensive profile.  Seems like the guy can hit.  Could be in for a May or June promotion to Frederick given his age (22) if he keeps hitting.

I am sensing Elias may fight that urge Frobby. If he uses the same mentality as the Cubs, he may keep the core of this team together and move them together as well.
