Grayson Rodriguez 2019

Yikes.  6 runs allowed in just 0.1 innings.

Guess he's allowed a clunker on occasion......but yikes.

Time to change his mechanics!

Worse start of career after walking six in his last start. Maybe it's just a bit of a tired arm, but eight walks in his last 5.1 IP is pretty strange for a guy who walked just nine in eight starts across May and June.

He could be tired, but it seems like he's been babied too much. it seems like he's averaged 6-7 days between starts.

HS kids throw like what 30 IP a season?  It’s his first full pro season. Nothing wrong with getting him through it healthy.

Not in my state. Bundy probably threw that many in a week.

Not any more most states have strict rules on number of innings a high school kid can throw.

I'd guess some top high school pitchers would throw 70-80 innings in a high school season then another 70-80 in the summer leagues.

It’s kind of funny, Rodriguez has only allowed more than one ER three times this year in 14 starts, and in two of those he allowed 6 and 7 ER.   He’s allowed 9 ER total in his other 12 starts.   It will be interesting to see how he rebounds next outing.

Hopefully it's just the grind of a first full season. I don't see how 6-7 days between starts helps either.

I don't see why it's babying or what it hurts. If he was a freshman in college he'd be pitching once a week, no one complains they are being babied.

See Nick Lodolo's game log--generally 6 days rest.

Is it possible that he got caught up in the excitement of pitching in the futures game and threw a little too hard?

It's possible. I always wondered if that may have happened to Bundy whose mechanics looked different to me at that time.
