Sounds like you were expecting too much for a guy with his salary/production.

There’s a difference between “too much” and “more than we got” and yes I was expecting more than we got, and you were too.

That's for it to be a player option. He only needs to hit a combined 340 for the option to be guaranteed by both parties.

Correct....and if he does well...one could see him as a cheap fifth starter Porcello replacement

Taking into account the ethnicity of the talent acquired in a trade.

That makes no sense at all.  Boo on you!

I'm guessing it escapes their notice.

Come on. There has to be the parent of a 10 year old phenom getting scouted by a buscone who is on the OH.

As we have usually gotten in the last few years....NADA.

That's what people say when they don't know a thing about the two players.  If they traded Cashner or a Kyle Stowers and a Gunnar Henderson some would probably be singing a different tune.

If this was their best offer, why not wait a couple more weeks before trading Cashner? Maybe some key starters on contending teams go down with injuries which caused better offers to crop up. I just don’t get the rush.

Because he'd already spent a week or more trying to drum up interest?

They have an option for next year, however, so he’s not really a rental.

That’s a bug not a feature.

Do you really think, especially this early in trade season, that we couldn’t have gotten more if we had waited? Even from the Bosox? Anything is possible but I think it is  Very likely we could’ve gotten more if we had waited.

Trade Cashner while he is still hot and is healthy. I don’t know.

But we really have no idea what we got.

Cashner has been on a roll. He has tomorrow and one more start before deadline. He also has an entire career for other teams to evaluate.

Elias has only TWO teams even interested. Not like he had the makings of a bidding war.

Cashner goes out and gets blown up tomorrow, what happens? He goes out and throws 6+ strong does it really get any better?

Teams don’t pay for Cashners these days.

And he is way overdue for some bad starts.

No one wants him for next year.
