  1. @Sports Guy about Twitter: " Son, we live in a world that has "X", and that "X" needs to be perused by men like me. Who's gonna do it? You? You, @RZNJ? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for @Can_of_corn, and you curse people like me. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know -- that @Can_of_corn's desire to not get on "X", while tragic, probably saved you a ton of problems; and my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves you time. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties, you want me in "X" -- you need me in "X". We use words like "ass munch," "jerkoff," "idiot." We use these words as the backbone of a life spent defending something. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very information that I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather that you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you go to your keyboard and get on "X" yourself. Either way, I don't give a DAMN what you think about me being on "X"!
  2. I will say, while I think he has a "playbook" that tells him and his coaches who is best in certain situations, I do think Hyde makes those calls during games. I don't want to take away from what Hyde does as manager because I believe he most likely goes with the SIGBOT lineups. I do think he has a lot of "final" say in a lot of decisions and of course, his ability to manage his clubhouse is outstanding.
  3. This Tides team is going to be an exciting team to watch for sure. Prospects throughout the lineup for the most part.
  4. This all makes sense in the modern era and why the "SIGBOT" lineups are going to be used more times than not. I still would like to know how Aguilar broke the system and got starts ahead of Stowers in 2022? I also think it's a bit overused at times. I think using these swing profiles is how players like Frazier and Kemp are over utilized/valued at times.
  5. That's fine. I could be wrong, but that was my interpretation. I guess it did help them win 101 games no matter how weird a lineup it kept spitting out. If Hyde is really making most of the calls on lineups, he hates himself some Kyle Stowers. Between Stowers, Ortiz and Cowser to a lesser extent, he's not afraid to bury prospects and he absolutely goes on platoon advantages based off pitchers, not hitters as he never batted Stowers against lefties despite his success against them in the minors. In fact, I want to blame the SIGBOT computer because I don't want to think Hyde really doesn't understand that buying prospects and playing Adam Frazier, Rougned Odor and God help us all, Jesús Aguilar were not good ideas at all.

  7. The fact that Haskin never made a major league spring training debut despite lower level outfielders getting playing time tells me he was not fully healthy.
  8. All indications this spring is that they've seen him at 1B and don't feel he will be able to become playable there at the major league level in anything but an emergency.
  9. Pretty good indication they are not planning to postpone.
  10. I'm hoping the Orioles do this sooner than later one way or the other.
  11. I still think "Lift off" was brought back down when JA gave him his miniscule budget. This one was all on him. I mean, it's not the end of the world, and he'll learn from it, but yeah, it was a mis-step no doubt.
  12. Right, we've all known it's "Hyde's final decision" but he's not going against his robo guidance. He's just making sure everyone is healthy before putting the SIGBOT lineup into effect. Hyde basically said the same thing.
  13. That's my take as well on he Holliday situation. I agree though, it was uncharacteristically poor job of PR by Elias.
  14. He had a good PR person write that up. The statement didn't talk enough about John to be from John.
  15. If "mastering" AAA was so important, why did Elias say he has an excellent chance to make the team out of spring training? Why even say that if they really didn't think he was special and was ready. All he did is go through spring training and show that he was ready at everything but hitting left-handers (though he did hit a Grand Slam off Kikuchi). I said all offseason that I didn't think Holliday would make the team because he probably wasn't ready, but then he went about spring training showing everyone he was actually ready, only to have the rug pulled out from under him. Elias is typically very shrewd and how he gives out information to the press, but he mis-stepped on Holiday. He should have never have said he had a chance to make the team if they had every intention are using service time manipulation to gain the extra year (which is smart long term). All he had to say is they're looking forward to seeing him in the spring and although he has little AAA experience, they'll be taking a long look at him. Then when they send him back to AAA, everyone understands but by giving false hope and then by Holliday having a great spring, it left him with a disappointed fanbase and egg on his face.
