  1. I know it goes without saying, but if you're off balance, you don't have power. He probably needs to get back to focusing on his foundation...the basics. I still have no doubt about this kid, disappointing start notwithstanding.
  2. I started a thread 2 or 3 years ago saying we should give Elias 10 years and $100 million. I was basically ridiculed. I'm not sure he'd take that offer at this point.
  3. I think it's silly to say he has nothing left to prove in AAA and equally silly to say he's not hurting the ML team right now. He is definitely hurting us. We're just good enough to overcome it right now. Holliday barely had a cup of coffee in AAA. He was only ok at the end of last year in AAA (.796 OPS) and had good stats when everyone on the team had over a 1.000 OPS against the lame White Sox team early this year. He also barely had a cup of coffee at 2B. Most importantly, he looks broken right now. There's every reason to put him into a position where he can decompress and find his legs again. While he's at it, he can figure out how not to drop his hands so he can compete at the top of the zone, and he can get more comfortable at 2b. I love the kid and believe that he'll be as great as they say, but I definitely believe he was rushed in relation to how Elias has really made sure the other guys are more ready before promoting them. Nobody else got the Holliday treatment, and I don't think they should. I would demote him and give Norby a shot, effective tomorrow.
  4. My goodness, what a lineup. I hope everyone is taking a second to smell the roses. This is rare even with Holliday's struggles, and Mayo/Basallo aren't even hear yet.
  5. You have to wonder how long this guy can stick. It would be a very Orioles thing to find this guy out of nowhere and have him be a legitimate number three starter for most of the year.
  6. You have to assume McCann would be gone. Not necessarily though.
  7. I actually didn't realize that O'Hearn had a $7.5 million option in 2025. Just cheap enough to pick up, just expensive enough to move.
  8. This time next year, there's a fair chance that all of Urias, Santander (switch hitter) and O'Hearn won't be on the roster. Add in that Hays will be getting expensive and there's a lot of opportunity for a very cheap and very good Norby to have a spot on this team. It's just next year. I know that's not the timeline that people are thinking about, but Elias has it tee'd up for Norby if he wants to go that route.
  9. This is why I was against the Burnes trade. I could turn out to be wrong even only having him for one year, but I would have rather got a guy with a few years of control. I agree though. You really can't extend him at what he's going to ask for.
  10. I didn't know this "extension" possibility existed. I do assume at this point that the O's will either use those extensions and/or transfer him to the 60-day to continue a longer rehab assignment.
  11. When this guys is slumping, it can be tough. When he's on, he's my favorite or second favorite player (Gunnar the other). I love me some Cedric Mullins.
  12. Hold on. Do you know this for sure? The comments to the tweet also talking about a Gunnar extension. If you're right, Rubenstein misplayed this one.
  13. [Edited title and content to reflect that this is probably much ado about nothing.] 105.7 is speculating that this tweet is teasing a Gunnar extension, but it appears this is just a Cal commercial. There's a desk at shortstop.
