  1. Like @Frobbysaid “ Assuming 33 starts, he’s on pace for 194 innings at a 2.76 ERA. I think we’d all sign for that in blood. “ So if his kRate is 9.0 that’s certainly be happy.
  2. Yes … but how he compare to Clemens or Ryan. I didn’t look! And I agree it was a different era but it also included the steroid and juiced ball periods. I think it’s possible for him to have a lower K rate as he matures and still be a top performer.
  3. And if that’s a bad outing for him he’s going to have a monster season.
  4. Honestly I’m not sure. But, KC has a better shot at a playoff berth than the Red Sox.Could you have predicted the Rangers would make the World Series last year? The schedule is more even this season but in the past the division strength would’ve made it an easy answer.
  5. Just curious, Was Greg Maddux an ace? Age 30-36 he was a clear #1 and his career K/9 of 6. His best seasons were 7.3 and 7.8. As long as his BB/9 runs don’t increase it isn’t a big deal. The credit for the home run yesterday goes to the hitter. The pitch was far from a meatball. An interesting stats …. Maddux faced around 20,500 batters and only allowed something like 350 3-0 counts ….his BB/9 was 1.8 for his career and under 1.5 from 30-36. After that he wasn’t an ace but a very good #3. And he played part of his career in the roid era. Burnes doesn’t need to fan 10-12 per 9. If he manages a K/9 per 9 that’s plenty good enough if he can get the BB/9 under 2.0. He’s currently at 1.5 this season and was 1.8 two seasons ago. And 2.6 for his career. But that doesn’t matter when your are struck ing 10-12 batters .
  6. This is true they have a good team! I’m delighted that we have pitchers that guys here criticize when a 3 ER performance over 6 innings is a bad outing.
  7. I’ve said before …the low OBP guys will be weeded out as the better players come up. Hays was never going to be long term.
  8. I don’t think they need to be only for homegrown guys. Just the right guys! I think Burnes is a right guy. Now if we can’t extend him before he hits free agency and he gets 10 year 30 million per from someone you have to walk away. Id try an extension that has a higher AAV but a shorter term. Say you expect him to get $30 per for 10 in free agency. Then give him 7 years and perhaps an opt out after 4.
  9. Cowser played in 5 straight after call up, give 5-6 days off, played in 10 straight, 2 days off, 4 straight , a day off, 2 straight, 1 day off, 1 game and then demoted. I didn’t look back to see how many of the days off that the team didn’t play. To say he didn’t get a chance is just wrong. https://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/hittinglogs.php?p=cowseco01&y=2023
  10. I think that’s the Koolaid sipper in you bro. I can’t imagine anyone here wants to see him struggle or fail. But, another 1 for 29 could damage his confidence. I think you send him down and let him reset. He needs to work to be more prepared part of it gets his strikeouts way down. Even if he had a 6 hit run as someone else mentioned he’d still have a k rate over 40%. He shouldn’t end up a 20%+ K rate guy.
  11. It’s not the same …. Henderson was batting just under .200. Holliday is batting .040. So about 20 % as good as Henderson was at his worst. And he’s striking out in more than 1 out of 2 trips to the plate. There is no sense panicking either way. But, there is nothing wrong with sending him down. I think too many of you guys are acting like not sticking with him is some kind of sin. As a fan, I’m worried about damaging his confidence too much. Plus after all the bullshit from his father, hopefully now he will keep his mouth shut.
  12. I don’t think we need to talk in absolutes here. It’s possible he’s just not ready. Look at Cowser last year compared to this season.
