  1. Letting Teheran opt out seems to mean Elias believes Means well be ready soon.
  2. O's beginning the season vs several left-handed starters. Nevin is the right-handed hitter to platoon with O'Hearn at DH. I think the O's want to turn Norby into a left fielder. He needs to play everyday to do that. That is available at AAA.
  3. I think Cowser will be on the team on OD.
  4. Albert Suarez was not optioned. He was reassigned to Norfolk. He is on a minor league contract and it sounds like he is does not have an opt out.
  5. This looks right to me. I think Nevin won the DH job vs lefties. I don't see Wong or McKenna making it to OD. Vs lefties Mateo in Center, Nevin DHing instead of O'Hearn. If you think Elias is done trading, I think he is just beginning. This gives him time to trade Urias and O'Hearn for pitching. Kind of like Mancini and Lopez for Johnson , McDermott and Povich. Instead of DFAing guys and getting nothing for them, I think Elias trades them for value and then promotes Holliday and Mayo. I will not be surprised to see Teheran make the team as the long man instead of letting him opt out. Akin to AAA in spite of his hot spring just because he has an option that allows Elias to keep arms in the organization.
  6. O's win 101 games in 2023. Holliday replaces Frazier. Cowser replaces McKenna/Hicks. Elias waits to see how the rookies adjustment period works out. The Mayo, Kjerstad and Norby wait for injuries or poor perform of some of the O's. Santander, Mullins, Hays, Mateo and maybe O'Hearn are probably in their last season with the O's. Young players just have to show they are better than any one of those players. Urias is a very good defensive 3B/2B. He had a poor offensive showing in 2023 but is hitting well this spring. With 3 years of service time left, Elias is evaluating.
  7. With 5 years of service he can not be optioned without his premission.
  8. It comes down to this. Some players that are ready for the majors are going to AAA. When injuries or non performance happens at the major league level AAA players get promoted. If the O's come up short on pitching Elias has players to trade for more pitching.
  9. Means Is projected to be ready in early May. They are not putting him on the 60 day IL. 40 man roster is at 40 with the addition of Burdock. Subtract McKenna, Maton and Nevin that is 37. Add Holliday and JT the roster will be at 39.
  10. So Holliday has struck out 7 times as much as he has walked. Mayo has struck out 1.5 times as much as he has walked.
  11. O'Hearn has 5 years of major league service which means he can only be optioned with his permission.
  12. Please describe the pitching issues as you see them.
  13. He could be the starting SS at Norfolk after he is DFA'd.
  14. Don't count out Mayo. He has shown better plate discipline this spring than Holliday and there are many reports of his improved defense at 3B. It's Elias fault that he has too many talented players for the number of roster spots he has. Now he has has to deal with it.
  15. You call it a surplus, Elias calls it depth. Trade for what? The O's have at least 5 starters and Means is scheduled to join them in May. The O's have a bunch of relievers and good pitchers are not normally traded late in ST or early in the season.
