  1. I tell my mom every day "for what it's worth the O's are now x-y" because x keeps out pacing y.
  2. 1200 club, and he's currently at what my max was at age 34... well 305, 465, 500 for me but same total. Very impressive for his age.
  3. Yes and I think it was Milwaukee who picked I the phone to accept rather than the O's upping the offer. I feel like the Brewers exhausted all options and took the best deal possible prior to spring start to unload the money and get what they can prior to any risk of injury.
  4. Listening to his recent interview where he doubled down on wanting to test free agency he kept mentioning getting to pick where he plays. Quick Google and he's from S California. So I believe he has in his mind going to LA or SD if possible. However he did also say that he's never been to Baltimore (other than 3 days in a hotel in '22 when the Brewers were in town) so if he and the family love it then maybe he changes his mind about testing free agency.
  5. According to Buster Olney this was the beginning of the end. So because he vetoed that deal in 96 and they subsequently went on a streak of winning Peter thought the "experts" knew nothing and he could rely on his own gut and instincts. Thy rest is history as we know.
  6. You also don't invest $1.725B without doing your homework first. Understanding that you're buying a franchise that doesn't need a face lift is easy to see and looking at past sales also rare. Usually teams are sold when they aren't that great.
  7. Looking at past MLB sales I found a common theme that the team wasn't very good at the time. So that in itself explains the want to change things up. The Orioles are in a very different situation.
  8. I just read that the group is acquiring a 40% stake initially and after Peter's death will purchase the remaining parts of what Angelos controls. According to the NY Post.
  9. What? First what salary cap? Second any salary cap or luxury tax doesn't work how you described. Salary cap leagues are more complicated so I'll just mention the luxury tax. Teams can spend X a year and get taxed %Y over X. Could be different tiers. The X is the actual spent that year. Using our Orioles as an example Chris Davis is counting towards our luxury tax threshold. Sure just $1.2 or whatever million but it counts. So the Dodgers deferment of money means they're moving that $70m a year around and beyond the 10 years.

    Bauer?

I don't know what he's asking for but, this seems like a high reward type of move. He did really well in Japan overall and great down the stretch. Could be that TOR guy we need and might not cost $25m+ over 4+ years as he could maybe be had for a welcome back/ prove it deal. I dunno, just saw he's out there and thought why not?
  11. I feel like MLB is going to be pressured to tweak the playoffs should Atlanta go down tomorrow. The top 3 teams all getting ambushed and looking flat after a week off isn't a good look.
  12. I was taught as a catcher to just drill the runner in the back and hope for the out of the base path call when that situation comes up. Problem is if it's not called the ball is alive and they can keep running because who knows where the ball will ricochet off to.
  13. The ball was 6 inches outside. Can't swing at that.

    ALDS Game 1

I don't mind it. This part of the line up put up the 2 runs on Kyle last time around. He's not as sharp and why risk going down 4-1 when you can match-up your way through this section.
