  1. Good grief, they’re not gonna send Hays down because he has a two week bad start. He’s a RH, which is something we need. He’s a solid defensive OF. And both of those things are not true of Stowers/Kjerstad. Also, just the idea of sending down a 5 year vet because he got off to a slow start is completely unrealistic and would be a morale killer.
  2. Oh interesting. I guess that’s a good reason. If Cowser keeps up his hot start, he could be a lead off candidate if Gunnar prefers to move down.
  3. Why Mullins and not Adley until Holliday is ready?
  4. He’s off to a good start. I’d still prefer Kjerstad in his role, but maybe we can move OHearn for RP help down the line.
  5. I don’t think I’d want Scott either, unless it was bargain basement pricing. He was fortunate last year to find some control, but it was definitely an outlier year.
  6. Sure, but what would the Marlins want with Austin Hays? I’d think they want a younger guy, and not someone who’s near free agency and declining.
  7. Why would any of these teams trade an asset like Scott or Bednar for Austin Hays, who won’t even be helpful to them. If you trade Hays, it’s better to trade him to a decent team that needs OF help.
  8. Let’s demand whoever they got from San Diego for Cease.
  9. His struggles do date back to the 2nd half last year, but generally I agree. The issue is we have a lot of good players coming up so these veterans will have more expectations to perform.
  10. Either that or a bullpen arm.
  11. I think Ramon is probably asking himself how he breaks out of his slump first. Elias needs to start looking for a place to off load these veteran guys who are, or expected to be, outperformed by more talented young guys.
  12. That makes sense. He didn’t show he could hurt you if the pitcher challenges him last year, so the pitcher’s mentality is to throw strikes and make him beat you. If he keeps this up, pitchers will adjust and he’ll see more balls. He seems smart enough as a hitter to continue making those adjustments in his career.
  13. Is that just for arbitration employees?
  14. I could see a trade and if it falls through, cut Kemp. If it were IL, they would just announce that.
  15. It’s so nice having an ace. But how long will he be an ace? He doesn’t have a lot of miles on his arm for someone with his stuff and results. Only 728 career MLB innings, since he started his career as a RP. Figures to add another 200 or so if we can make a run in the playoffs. So far, the FB has maintained its velocity from last year. Just watching him this year he seems to be more of a pitcher than a thrower. He seems like he’s survive a drop in velocity. It depends on what it would take for him to sign.
