  1. I’m not gonna go searching, but I’m pretty sure I was strongly in agreement with get rid of OHearn. I still mildly agree we should look to trade him but he hits the ball so hard and really hurts RHP. I could see him being of more use to us than a solid RP or SP depth. But that piece he can help us acquire plus Kjerstad is probably better than just OHearn himself.
  2. There’s a reason he had elbow trouble at the end of last year, and has started behind everyone this year. Do we have to bring him up?
  3. We have 6 guys in the bullpen who didn’t pitch yesterday. They can cover 5+ innings.
  4. Just keeping playing him. If he struggles for a couple more weeks, maybe you option him.
  5. I agree that if this were a video game, it would make sense to option Hays. But since these are real people, you have to treat them with the respect they’ve earned. Not to say Hays can play like this indefinitely, but there’s no reason to think he will.
  6. To me it seems they’re both dialed in and swinging at more pitches because of that. It’s a logical approach when you’re mashing the ball like these two. As they start to make more outs, they should become more selective. I do have some concern with Cowser’s K rate, as he’s always struggled with that. Good observation about the breaking pitches over the plate but falling below the knees. I hope it’s an adjustment they can make. I’m sure MLB breaking pitches drop more than what you see in the minors.
  7. Yeah that’s how I’ve felt about him since I first saw him. He’s reminded me of Michael Young. I always thought that was a lofty comp, but honestly it may be the 50% scenario for Westburg.
  8. I think he means Westy isn’t a generational fielder at 3B, but is holding his own. I’ll never understand the Manny slander by some of this fan base.
  9. Good grief, they’re not gonna send Hays down because he has a two week bad start. He’s a RH, which is something we need. He’s a solid defensive OF. And both of those things are not true of Stowers/Kjerstad. Also, just the idea of sending down a 5 year vet because he got off to a slow start is completely unrealistic and would be a morale killer.
  10. Oh interesting. I guess that’s a good reason. If Cowser keeps up his hot start, he could be a lead off candidate if Gunnar prefers to move down.
  11. Why Mullins and not Adley until Holliday is ready?
  12. He’s off to a good start. I’d still prefer Kjerstad in his role, but maybe we can move OHearn for RP help down the line.
  13. I don’t think I’d want Scott either, unless it was bargain basement pricing. He was fortunate last year to find some control, but it was definitely an outlier year.
  14. Sure, but what would the Marlins want with Austin Hays? I’d think they want a younger guy, and not someone who’s near free agency and declining.
