  1. Couldn't read the article because of the paywall, but apparently Hall has been tipping his pitches. Would make sense why his strikeouts seemed to be lower the last few starts/why he struggled to put guys away.

    Coby Mayo 2022

Gunnar Henderson didn't have a lot of success at Aberdeen either IIRC. So, I'm not ready to give up on Mayo or Cowser hitting their ceilings yet. Let's see where they are at the end of the year and how they progress next year.
  3. I don't envision we will see much mention from Roch other than snarky retorts to people in his comment section.
  4. You're right, because this is the consensus attitude towards it.
  5. Baltimore has plenty of safe and nice areas. Fed Hill, Fells, Canton, Locus Point, Mount Vernon, etc. The city does have an optics problem for sure and the Inner Harbor needs redevelopment badly. Not a whole lot of big tourist areas outside of the Aquarium. If they could redevelop Howard Street and Lexington Market correctly that would be a big first step in getting people from the suburbs back into the city, I think.
  6. To me, I'm not surprised that the MASN broadcast has their talking points. The network is run by the Orioles and exists solely to broadcast Orioles (and I guess Nationals) games too. So I'm not bothered when Melanie Newman or Ben MacDonald talk about the homerun chain or Call of Duty celebration. It's certainly more entertaining than a team of non-emoting androids, but not as fun as a winning team. As for Elias, I've felt that this is the last "punt" year for me. As in the last year that we "see what we have" in the minors before starting to add to the team. Unfortunately some injuries have slowed that, but at this point, it's ride or die with the offense we have. We have to hope that Rodriguez hits and Hall or Bradish turn into a valuable starter with the other being a valuable reliever. Henderson and Westberg will be up next year, and they'll need to probably replace Mancini. But this off-season they need to at least start adding real pieces to fix the holes. I seriously doubt we contend in 2023, but a 2024 playoff appearance should be the target. It won't happen unless they are proactive. Will they be? I don't know, but is it possible? Sure. I style myself more pro-Elias than anti at the moment, but like I said, if things don't change by next year, that could change.
  7. Is anyone other than Keith Law saying that?
  8. He's got solid stuff and has shown success the first time through a lineup. No reason to let him go without seeing if he can be an effective reliever. Especially when this team is desperate for bullpen arms.
  9. Wasn't Toronto very interested in Ubaldo before we signed him?
  10. My guess for the 2022 OD roster would be something like this. C: Rutschman 1B: Mountcastle 2B: Jones 3B: Urias SS: Mateo LF: Hays CF: Mullins RF: Santander DH: Mancini Bench: Gutierrez, McKenna, Ciuffo/Veteran Backup, Martin/Veteran UI SP: Means, Veteran Free Agent, Zimmermann, Akin, Baumann/Lowther/A. Wells/Bradish/Ellis RP: T. Wells, Lopez, Scott, Tate, Sulser, Harvey (if healthy)/Krihbel, Ellis, long reliever that loses out on the fifth spot. I think Rutschman makes the OD roster, but if the CBA doesn't make major changes to the eligibility system, I could see the Orioles doing the same thing they did in 2009 with Wieters and Zaun and Rutschman is up in May.
  11. 10 is an exaggeration, but guys who could be 4s or 5s in the NL? We've got plenty of them.
  12. We've got like ten of those in our system.
  13. No. The guy is a full on headcase, even if it turns out he was not guilty. He's a clubhouse cancer who his teammates hate. Besides, I'm not so sure he's that great a pitcher without spider tack.
  14. I'm not overly optimistic about this team either, but most of that bad winning percentage really comes from just being god awful in May.
  15. Sure absolutely. I think I meant more that a team like Washington has three elite level players and nothing else. The Orioles don't have either right now, but they've got a ton of prospects who won't be stars, but can be the important depth. It also depends on which players outside the organization they target. It could take a few years, but it doesn't have to if they do things right.
