  1. I actually agree with most of this. It definitely seems to be in Elias's nature to hold onto guys as long as possible and to be extra sure that a prospect is dominating at a level before promoting them. He also was on record recently as saying it does no one any good to let guys just mash in the minors for long periods of time. So we will see. Kjerstad has seemed to cool off significantly since the Tides stopped playing against Charlotte. So he probably does want to see more from him.
  2. Maybe. I think "lunacy" is a tad overstated. It wouldn't surprise me if Elias keeps everyone for sure. Do you think Kjerstad will be in the lineup in October of 2024? If so how do you expect them to make room for him?
  3. Thinking about starting a thread about why O'Hearn has to stay. Santander might be the one whose spot is vulnerable when Kjerstad is ready. Not because of his slow start per se.........but more because of it being his walk year.
  4. Was just about to start a thread on this. Glad someone else did so I can just piggy back off of it heh. Found a fascinating tool at ESPN: 2024 MLB Baseball Relative Power Index - Major League Baseball - ESPN Big takeaways: -Orioles have had the hardest schedule in all of MLB so far -if you use their formula for RPI (relative power index) that attempts to adjust W/L record to account for opponent's Strength of Schedule...........we are the 2nd best team in MLB. None of that guarantees anything of course for the future. But it should be encouraging for O's fans. It is for me.

    DL Hall 2024

It's been clear to me for awhile that DL Hall's best opportunity to shine and thrive in MLB is as a high leverage reliever. Seems like he really doesn't want to go that route......and that's a shame. I think Elias handled this situation pretty flawlessly.
  6. We need to update the title of this thread. May happen a few more times as well.
  7. Taking Holliday's spot on the Norfolk roster? just making a guess
  8. I would certainly never imply that my dream is that Irvin spends all of 2024 in the rotation. He is definitely the weakest link right now. But it's also true that the ump made it harder for him last night than necessary.
  9. One way he was unlucky last night was he struck out a guy (should have been the 3rd out of the inning) but the umpire blew the call and awarded a BB. Next guy hit a 2 run homer.
  10. Actually.... Cal Sr returned to the team from 1989 to 1992 as the 3rd base coach. I assume he wore #7 then? So he would still be the last one.
  11. Possibly the biggest Orioles news of the day!
  12. Sprinklers are back?!!!??
  13. Career .885 OPS vs RHP. (580 PA) Career .582 OPS vs LHP. (213 PA) That is a pretty striking differential. Not saying he can't improve against lefties eventually and I'm NOT saying he should be a platoon player. But idk...........maybe............just maybe.............. he shouldn't be leading off vs LHP right now?
