  1. Holliday will be a WAR rack once he gets going. He plays 2B and will steal bases. Just like how Mateo has been able to be a WAR rack in the past. The added positional value and base stealing will carry his slow start.
  2. Stephenson - Injured Brasier - 4.50 ERA Robertson and Ottavino are killing though. Fuji - 9 ERA in AAA Uwasawa - 6.30 in AAA These are the names from the offseason that I remember.
  3. @Sports Guy you could’ve just really simplified this and made the poll “Will Holliday be ‘ok’ this year? Yes? No? The Betting sites have him at the same odds to win ROY as they do to have Burnes win the CYA. As a degen, I’d blind bet the over on any Holliday prop right now. So my answer is, OVER
  4. Zippy chance Hays goes anywhere. One, it’s SSS. You just can’t cut guys during slumps. You’re never going to have all 9 guys tearing it up at the same time. Everyone is over Urias because Holliday is up. Holliday is struggling. What’s next move onto whatever player is in a slump? Mountcastle has cooled off. He better get it together
  5. Who would’ve thought that the bullpen would’ve been this stable in terms of moves since OD? We’re not seeing the up/down Norfolk shuttle. Vespi was up just because Webb was on Paternity Leave. Heasley and Ramirez have been just because Perez got injured. The early consistency allowed us to take a chance on a live arm like Ramirez because a team like the Mets is locked into a bunch of relievers that are out of options and making guaranteed money. Knock on wood, but I don’t think the bullpen has “cost” us a game. Maybe one of the 50/50 games in Pittsburgh. Everyone hates the small moves, but look at the arms Elias has added via that route since the end of ST 2022. Coloumbe, Webb, Suarez, Ramirez, Krook, and Ort. Building a bullpen isn’t sexy. Unless you sign Robert Stephenson.
  6. It’s called resting players. The last game Hays had he hit two balls in play with exit velos over 100 mph. We’re like 1/9th of the way through the season. Hays is essentially a platoon OF now while struggling. How many people in this thread wanted to send Gunnar down last April?
  7. I was thinking the same thing. Chris Tillman. Also, with Means is it’s not just the injury he’s having to overcome, it’s the spider tack ban as well. He’s making 3.35 million this year. What team would even claim him if he’s DFA’d?
  8. Gotta think that he’ll agree to be optioned to the minors. It’s his quickest and most stable path back to the majors as a starter. If not, we might have to hide him as the 8th man in the bullpen, or IL him which could delay him another 30+ days, or DFA him and he’ll bounce around the league most likely as a reliever.
  9. - Was picked two spots ahead of Gunnar in the 2019 draft. - Went to Campbell just like Mullins. Mullins was class of 15’. Johnson was class of 19’.
  10. Longterm he’s probably that missing RH SU/MR that we’ve been looking for since the Fuji trade. It’s probably Suarez vs Ramírez vs Tate for 1-2 bullpen spots. Wells and one of Irvin/Means could be in the bullpen mix as well. Depth is good to have. I wouldn’t sleep on Ramirez either. Elias has shown a knack from adding relievers through trade or waivers.
  11. 97 mph tonight with a bunch of sweepers. Sweeper = keeper. In all seriousness, the dude has a live arm. I could see him giving us a “Webb” type of run. Everyday Webby. Ramírez is out of options so he’s literally pitching for his job everytime out there. Honestly, I was banging the drum for us to sign one more vet reliever like a David Robertson, Ottavino, or Brasier, but there probably isn’t too much difference than Ramírez right now other than track record and salary. That’s a $5-$10 million security blanket that Elias didn’t think we needed.
  12. If ST tells us anything, it will be Suarez over Zimmerman. Suarez pitched 15.2 IP to Zimmerman’s 7.2 IP. So they must like him a bit more. Banuelos gets DFAd to make room for him. He was only added to roster last night because he was with the team and it was a reward. We basically plucked the bullpen catcher and added him. There was no reason to IL Wells yesterday other than to give Banuelos a moment. It’ll be a bizzare piece of O’s trivia years from now and possibly inspire a future handle.
  13. Ugh… I think the problems are that he’s 20 years old and two years removed from high school. Everyone wanted this dude up here. He’s batting 8th/9th. Now we just got to let him get a sample size and some ABs. Also, keep in mind that Jackson Holliday is a legit 20. He’s not Albert Pujols 20.
  14. Overall, O’Hearn was a very slick pickup. Getting him to agree to the $3 million team option for 2025 was a slick move as well. He probably shouldn’t play RF, but stuff happens over a long season and we may see that again. I think the bad feelings of the Crush Davis contract rubbed off a little on O’Hearn. Just similar looking players. He’s not blocking Kjerstad. Kjerstad is our Santa replacement. Stowers is just being blocked because he’s LH and he’s behind the other LH hitting OF types in the MLB.
  15. Yet another example of a why it isn’t the end of the world if a player has to be sent down. Bradish, Grayson, Cowser…. all went down and made cautious adjustments.
