  1. I'm pretty much in agreement with SG on this one. I don't know if he should be sent down, but as SG said, “That's where I trust Elias.” I disagree a little bit on the “hurting his confidence” issue. I think hitting a baseball successfully is a lot like hitting a golf ball successfully… a lot of what impacts your success is what you have going on between your ears. While there's a danger in hurting his confidence by sending him out there every day while he's in a sustained slump, there's also a danger in sending him down to Norfolk. But, once again, I have to trust Elias and management on making that call.
  2. Obviously, he's gonna come down to earth eventually, but I like the way he looks on the mound. He has a solid, stable, balanced delivery. Shintaro Fujinami, by contrast, always seemed precariously balanced on one leg, as if he could fall off to one side or the other at any moment. I also like the way he works up in the strike zone with the four-seam fastball and consistently is at 94 – 95 when he does. He's also getting good movement on his breaking stuff. It's nice to see him have some success, even if it ends up being fleeting, this late in his career.
  3. I dominated my college intermural softball league when I was 20!
  4. I like this game! Grayson Rodriguez 27 Wins 216 IP 243 SO Corbin Burnes 18 Wins 208.8 225 SO Craig Kimbrel 72 IP 45 SV 126 SO
  5. This is the first time I've seen him pitch. To be honest I wasn't expecting much but he was just dialed in. He has a solid, compact, delivery and I like the way he works up in the zone. He made good pitches and his command was outstanding. Can't wait to see if he can keep this up!
  6. The Jackson Holliday experience this year and the Colton Cowser experience last year are good cautionary tales for those who advocate for veterans to be moved en masse in favor of calling up our top prospects. While I'm confident that Holliday will be fine in the long term, he is overmatched and needs adjustment. Maybe he gets on track in the next 10 or 15 games, or maybe he needs to be sent back down to work things out in a lower pressure environment? Whatever they do, I'm glad Elias and company are the team we have in place to make those decisions.
  7. No. They lead the American League in runs scored despite only having played 16 games. Nine other teams have played 17 or 18 games. Their walk rate will normalize over time.
  8. I don't mind the new posters so much, its the veterans with thousands of posts who are quick to make absolute declarations about the ultimate value – or lack thereof – of a player based on an extremely small sample size. Those are the ones who frustrate me.
  9. To the extent these things mean anything, last year Mullins hit .242 with a .335 OBP out of the leadoff position. Batting 6th he hit .333 with a .372 OBP.
  10. Can confirm. Sports Guy is the leading Poster on the St. Maria Goretti High School Gaels Lacrosse page.
  11. Isn't this just a repeat of your Mullins thread? I can't wait for the Hays thread... or did I miss that one?
  12. I think knowing how many wins the wall saved or cost us would be important data points to substantiate your position.
