  1. I'm pretty sure that Mr Angelos had taken a turn for the worse when this deal started. He may have hung on a little longer than they thought. Either way, I trust that MLB and the new ownership will handle everything with grace and respect for the family.
  2. I'm going with the Yankees here. They have a chance to have a really great lineup. Generally I would pick Toronto, but I don't know if there's been many teams with as much talent that underachieves year in and out like they do.
  3. I think most of us would have liked to have had Holliday from day 1. I don't know that it's as much about service time as we think. They've been burned on the service time game already, and I don't know if they want to see it happen again. Every top tier prospect that they've called up have been up to stay. There's probably some legitimacy to wanting him to improve his K's vs LH pitching. Mayo, that's one that I don't really understand. He pretty much has checked all of the boxes that should warrant a spot on the 26. His case seems more like service time manipulation than anything.
  4. That could've been said before signing Givens last year...any positive from the trade was negated after that.
  5. 90-93 with a chance to be better than that. My biggest concern is the pitching. Getting healthy could definitely get them in the high 90's.
  6. I know. Combine that and the fact that he's not coming from a background where he needs the money right now, I think it will be difficult to reach a contract.
  7. What number do you believe would make him sign? 10/$150 or more?
  8. RIP. There's a time later to discuss what has already been talked about in regards to his time as an owner. Today is a time to keep his family in our thoughts, and prayers if that applies. He definitely loved the city of Baltimore and the O's.
  9. I know that a lot of the chat has been about Holliday not making the roster, and rightfully so considering he's the number 1 prospect, but my problem with the cuts goes beyond that. There was a lot of really young talented players reassigned yesterday in what seems as an effort to find a spot for players like Nevin, McKenna and possibly others. Most of the demoted guys are still relatively young, but there are a few that are really starting to cut into any opportunities that they may have to reach a decent shot at a ML career. Some of which would be redundant on the current roster, but that shouldn't eliminate the front office from trying to make a trade that would benefit the team and the players. It's hard to justify keeping some AAAA a player when you have better options in-house. Anyhow, I hope it works out for the best because the window is open and they need to get after it while they have guys like Henderson and Rutschman under team control.
  10. Of course sending so much talent to the MiL's sucks, but the thought of Nevin and/or Wong on the roster is far worse for me.
  11. He's shown some value in the pen if they can get there.
  12. The money is definitely a legit reason why he will be in Baltimore on opening day, but he's also had a decent spring. I'm not a fan of his by any means, but he's going to play because he's earned it and according to the manager he's an excellent teammate.
  13. I'm more worried about how much Nevin is playing. It really seems like they're trying to find a way to have him in Baltimore this season.
  14. I would love to see Holliday and Mayo on the team from day 1, especially since I think they're going to have to put up some big games on offense to offset the starting pitching as currently constructed. I'm guessing that at best, Holliday will make the team unless there's a trade or an injury. It's nothing but pure speculation on my part, but I really believe that they are going to try to figure out a way to have Nevin on the team...I hope I'm wrong, but they're certainly playing him a lot more than he really should be. Of course, someone will probably chime in and point out that he's not starting as much as it feels like he is.
