  1. The quality and size of the player pool has been increasing since the last expansion due to the overseas expansion of the game so two more teams wouldn't really be much of a hit to the product quality when compared to a decade or two ago.
  2. I'd rather go to eight divisions 4 teams per a la the NFL.
  3. Was he? Career Fip above his ERA. Looking at his numbers I don't see why any stat people would be excited. 2012 was promising I suppose, but even then the walks were too high to expect any sustained success as a starter.
  4. Daniel Cabrera was not a saber darling. He never posted a FiP or xFip below 4, and was usually closer to 5.
  5. You struggle to see how a guy who might win back to back MVPs would be considered the best at his position?
  6. I am sure everyone will get these numbers stuck in their craw, but I think the fact that we have a 50% chance to make the playoffs is awesome. We are truly in a golden age for the Os.
  7. I judge process over results, so I was against the Davies trade, but fine with not signing an aging, PED marred DH sign a large 4 year contract. Trading starting pitching prospect for low impact rentals will be the biggest black mark on this amazing O's run.
  8. "Scott is a lefty that touches 100 with some deception. He also throws a slider and changeup, both of which are below-average pitches at present. He has some sequencing issues that force him to rely on his arm more than most, giving him some command issues. Still, a small improvement in either his command or his slider vaults him into closer territory at the big league level. It’s a little tough to envision that based on his current feel and delivery, but the fastball should be enough for him to pitch in a major league bullpen." http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/evaluating-the-2016-prospects-baltimore-orioles/
  9. What if I were to tell you, it's possible to "go for it" without mortgaging the future?
  10. There has been more than one pitcher that has displayed that characteristic for every division in baseball. If we're counting shaky, anecdotal and SSS evidence, take a look at how much Jake struggled last year against the mighty AL East.
  11. He couldn't pitch well anywhere, until he could. There's nothing magical about the AL East. He is dominating everywhere now.
  12. Good idea. Yeah, I voted "Too much", but it appears we were no where near the majority. I am never a fan of giving up on young starters. It already bit us with Arrieta.
  13. I'm not a fan of trading a potential starter for a decent reliever (and a rental at that). For those unaware, here is what Fangraphs said in January:
